Packaging containers with UN approvalWhat is a container with UN approval?The person who fills a package with hazardousmaterials is responsible for its safety ondispatch. In a UN approved container youcan transport hazardous goods safely withouthaving to repack them and thus savecosts.What is “UN-approved”?The UN has drawn up a list of more than6000 hazardous substances classifiedaccording to the risk that they represent;this determines their packaging group.Packaging group I (X) corresponds to a highdegree of risk represented by the contents,e.g. very corrosive substances; packaginggroup II (Y) a medium degree of risk andpackaging group III (Z) less hazardous substances.The UN approval describes the type ofpackaging to be used for the transport ofhazardous substances.
