In September 2005, Staten Island Technical High School was granted status as New York City’s seventhSpecialized High School by the NY City Department of Education. Staten Island Technical High School along withschools such as Stuyvesant High School, the Bronx High School of Science, and Brooklyn Technical High Schoolserve the needs of some of New York City’s most gifted and talented young men and women.The student body is comprised of approximately 1,100 students who gained admission through the challengingSpecialized High School Admissions Test. Staten Island Technical High School provides a demanding and exclusivelycollege preparatory curriculum. Emphasis is placed on mathematics, science, engineering, humanities and theperforming arts.A CADEMIC A CHIEVEMENTTerm grades for each subject are given in January and June. Students strive to achieve a minimumgrade of 90%, despite the minimum grade set at 65%.
