for two years as member of the
Committee on Pediatric Workforce
(COPW) by the American Academy
of Pediatrics.
Congratulations to Juan Trujano,
who on June 5 received an Employee
Excellence Award for Excellence
in Teamwork/Collaboration for
his outstanding work on the Meaningful
Use project (a federallyfunded
program, emphasizing improving
quality of health care, initiated
by the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services)! This was a
highly competitive process as HR
received over 150 nominations.

Drs. Mark Underwood and Alice

and Engineering). Dr. Underwood
is a member of the “Protecting
the Fragile Intestine: Integrating
Microbiota and Mucosal Health”
team (P.I., Satya Dandakar) and Dr.
Tarantal is a member of the “UC
Davis Center of Excellence in Translational
Molecular Imaging” team
(P.I., Dr. Simon Cherry).
Welcome new Pediatric Chief Residents Jean Pearce and Jacob Henderson.
Please welcome new PGY2 Kristina Stillwell and the Class of 2015 - Thea
Bregman, Kim Cheong, Manpreet Dhillon, Theresa Kim, Cami Le, Mikah
Owen, Pam Pablico, Mitch Ratanasen, Karl Reiber, Kristin Sohn, and Tammy
Woo.
A big thank you to out-going Chief Residents Carrie Gardner and Mark
Ratanasen. Both Mark and Carrie now practice general out-patient pediatrics
at Kaiser in South Sacramento.
Noon Conference UPDATE: On July 6th, Department of Pediatrics Residents
transitioned to a new block conference schedule. Former daily noon conferences
are now held every Friday from 12 noon to 3 pm.
