Queensl<strong>and</strong> Fire <strong>and</strong> Rescue Service – Rules Governing Competitions July 20<strong>11</strong><strong>event</strong>; however Firefighter 4 remains <strong>the</strong> Team Captain <strong>and</strong> is responsible for any st<strong>and</strong>ing gear lefton <strong>the</strong> track after team break off.The team objective is to Strike Targets 1 <strong>and</strong> 2 consecutively <strong>with</strong> Case 1 <strong>and</strong> Case 3 deliveriesfrom <strong>the</strong> Rural <strong>appliance</strong> <strong>using</strong> <strong>the</strong> on board tank supply.Strike Target 1 <strong>with</strong> one line of Case 1 from <strong>the</strong> <strong>rural</strong> <strong>appliance</strong>; establish a feed from <strong>the</strong> UrbanAppliance into <strong>the</strong> dummy tank fill valve on <strong>the</strong> Rural Appliance, <strong>the</strong>n strike Target 2 <strong>with</strong> one lineof one length <strong>using</strong> 25mm Case 3 delivery hose from <strong>the</strong> <strong>rural</strong> <strong>appliance</strong>.(When making <strong>and</strong> breaking Stortz couplings on deliveries, <strong>the</strong> hoses do not need to be straddledbut all washers must be checked)NB: (1) To pr<strong>event</strong> water entering <strong>the</strong> tank <strong>and</strong> overflowing onto <strong>the</strong> track, <strong>the</strong> Rural <strong>appliance</strong>(s)will be fitted <strong>with</strong> a dummy tank fill valve <strong>with</strong>in <strong>the</strong> nearside wheel arch which will not allow waterto pass when <strong>the</strong> dummy tank fill valve is opened. Teams will be required to couple <strong>the</strong> feed tothis dummy valve <strong>and</strong> open it fully as per any normal valve..Duties include:• Ff 1.Take out hose reel <strong>and</strong> branch. Strike Target 1.• Ff 2. *Couple hose to delivery outlet, *Start pump <strong>and</strong> *open tank valve.• Ff 2. After “Ready at pump” order has been received open <strong>the</strong> delivery valve <strong>and</strong>operate pump at 500kPa.• Ff 3. Turn fuel on - *start <strong>the</strong> pump - *open <strong>the</strong> tank valve.• Ff 3. Open <strong>case</strong> one valve fully <strong>and</strong> ‘operate pump’.• Ff 3. Couple feed into dummy tank fill valve. Call <strong>and</strong> signal * “Ready at pump” <strong>and</strong>*fully open dummy tank fill valve after <strong>the</strong> hose has been coupled.• Ff 3. Open <strong>case</strong> 3 delivery valve fully <strong>and</strong> ‘operate pump’ when “Ready “is called.• Ff 4. Place chocks. Provide <strong>and</strong> bowl a 64mm feed hose from <strong>the</strong> Urban Applianceto <strong>the</strong> Rural Appliance. Provide <strong>the</strong> female coupling to ff 2 <strong>and</strong> take <strong>the</strong> malecoupling to ff 3. (May place coupling/s on ground or pass to ff’s 2 & 3 as desired)• Ff 4. Provide <strong>and</strong> bowl 25mm delivery hose, *provide one coupling to ff 3 <strong>and</strong>*couple branch to hose. (May place coupling on ground) Take out hose <strong>and</strong> striketarget 2• Ff 3. **Due to issues <strong>with</strong> 25mm hose being prone to kinks pr<strong>event</strong>ing sufficient water flow toreach <strong>the</strong> target, <strong>the</strong> Case 3 Branch Firefighter may turn off <strong>the</strong> branch, place it on <strong>the</strong> groundinside <strong>the</strong> branch circle (MUST NOT leave branch circle <strong>with</strong> branch) <strong>and</strong> return to removeany kink/s or restrictions, OR:- May retain <strong>the</strong> branch <strong>and</strong> do this from <strong>with</strong>in <strong>the</strong> branchcircle. This may be done <strong>with</strong>out penalty if <strong>the</strong> Judge deemed hose was laid out correctlywhen “Ready” was called.)Time will be taken as <strong>the</strong> total of <strong>the</strong> time taken to strike Target 1 plus <strong>the</strong> time taken to strike Target 2. Bothtimes will commence <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> activation of <strong>the</strong> Event Starter’s signal.E.g. A team takes 20 seconds to strike Target 1 <strong>and</strong> completes <strong>the</strong> <strong>event</strong> (strikes Target 2) in 1 min 30seconds. The total raw team time will be 20 sec plus 1 min 30 sec = 1 min 50 sec.2
