<strong>307</strong>/92 <strong>Uniform</strong> <strong>badge</strong> introduction <strong>of</strong> a Coxswain's (<strong>submarine</strong>) wrist <strong>badge</strong>[D/ST831300/5/31: 68282FA]<strong>Introduction</strong>1. This <strong>DCI</strong> announces the introduction <strong>of</strong> an anodized <strong>badge</strong> for wear on thewrist by Coxswains in the Submarine Service. The <strong>badge</strong> will be worn on theright wrist by CPO Coxswains (SM) in numbers 2A, 2.1, 2N, 4,6, 7, 7A, 8J and 10Dress.Background2. Coxswains in <strong>submarine</strong>s perform disciplinary and regulatory duties similar tothose <strong>of</strong> the Master-At-Arros in ships, but whereas the latter are identifiable inall forms <strong>of</strong> Dress Coxswains (SM) are not. It has therefore been decided toprovide a metal <strong>badge</strong> for wear on a wrist strap so that they can be recognizedvisibly in the performance <strong>of</strong> their duties.Design3. The anodized <strong>badge</strong> consists <strong>of</strong> a Coxswains' wheel encircled by a lau~elwreath. A pair <strong>of</strong> lugs is positioned on the <strong>badge</strong> to facilitate fitting to the wnststrap which is in white leather.Introductory and supply arrangements .4. Gratuitous issue <strong>of</strong> one <strong>badge</strong> and one wrist strap is to be made on promotIonto CPO Coxswain (SM) and to all personnel currently serving in the rate.11
