The protein needs to be pumped in at 40-50 psi and up to onelitre per minute. The chromatography column uses 95% ethanol and is cleanedup with bleach. The customer was using a small rotary lobe pump, howevertwo problems persisted; the bleach caused corrosion of the pump and therewere concerns with contamination due to insufficient cleaning of the lobe head.Both problems were solved with the introduction of the 520UN/REM pumps.The high pressure LoadSure ® elements are easy to clean and are corrosion free.9
