This resultsin a much cleaner material than conventionalPVC compounds, and compares favorablyto alternate materials typically used for UPWpiping applications. This has been validatedwith extensive static and dynamic leach studiesduring exposure to 18.2 megohm ultra-purewater conducted by a reputable third party. Referto Table I and Table II for comparative evaluationof leachable contaminants obtained fromcommon UPW piping materials.ProcessingProcessing conditions for the converting thismaterial into pipe form are as critical as theselection of the material itself to ensure that thephysical properties of the finished product areoptimized. Correct processing techniques ensureproper dispersion and fusion of the compound,resulting in a homogenous melt with uniformproperties. Great care is also taken duringthis process using proprietary techniques toaddress surface finish characteristics. Optimizingprocessing conditions and providing smoothinternal surfaces greatly reduces the potential forextractable and particle contaminants.Harvel LXT pipe is cut square, purged toremove shavings, sealed in polybags and boxedon-line at time of manufacture to minimizecontamination. Unlikeconventional PVC solvent cements, this systemcontains fewer contaminants and cures quickly,reducing the potential for TOC contamination.Joining is accomplished quickly and efficientlyutilizing inexpensive tools, thereby greatlyreducing labor and installation costs.Physical PropertiesAlthough the extractable contaminants of HarvelLXT are much lower than common PVC piping,Harvel LXT has physical properties very similarto those of conventional PVC piping.
