The Packers donned the third jerseyfor their showdown with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 of the 2010 season and against the St. Louis Rams in Week 6 of the2011 season. In 2013, the Packers will dress in this uniform against the Cleveland Browns onOctober 20 after not wearing them during the 2012 season. The 1929 season marked the first of three consecutive titles, as the Packers recorded a34-5-2 cumulative record in official league games from 1929-31. For the game, the jerseywas navy blue with the number on the front inside a gold circle. The circle and number wereenlarged a bit from their 1929 size to comply with NFL regulations regarding jersey numbers. An enlarged number was also on the back, with a nameplate above the number, anothermodification that wasn’t present in 1929. The helmet was a solid brown color without a logo tobest simulate the leather helmets worn during the era and the uniform pants were a tan color. The 1929 team would have been proud of the performance put on by their modern-daycounterparts against San Francisco, as the Packers defeated the 49ers by a score of 34-16.NFL teams are allowed to have a third jersey that they can wear for up to three games perseason (no more than two home games) over a five-year period. The re-creation of a historicaljersey was a coordinated effort between the administration and the football operationsheaded by General Manager Ted Thompson. Working through the league, the team startedthe process roughly one year in advance of the announcement, wanting to focus on a historicaljersey that had not been previously used in “throwback” games. In 1994, the team wore 1937 uniforms as part of the NFL’s 75th anniversary season. In their 2001 Thanksgiving game in Detroit, the Packers wore replicas of their 1939 uniforms.551UNIFORMHISTORYLAMBEAUFIELD MISC.
