VTS³ and VCS³ Stress Screening Systems
More Power for Maximum Quality Assurance

2
Tailor-made for your product:
Our proven testing methods
Thermal and climatic conditions can affect the production, storage and use of your products and therefore negatively
influence their functioning, properties or service life. It is essential for the support of your product development and quality
assurance to test products for possible early failure.
Real test conditions
Environmental stress screening (ESS) refers to a method
in which test specimens are exposed to climatic, thermal
or mechanical stresses in order to provoke early failures.
To cite just one example, this can uncover weaknesses in
design, material or production of electronic modules.
ESS makes it possible to sort out unreliable systems already
during production testing. It has become established
as a standard method for improving quality and contributes
crucially to the extension of the functional lifetime of products.
The longer flaws are ignored in the life cycle of a product,
the more expensive the followup costs for rectifying them
become.
The ESS method
Advantages of ESS
• Higher quality, greater reliability and longer service life
of the products
• Minimization of risk (even for new products)
• Fast feedback inhouse rather than from customers
• Cost reduction because customers do not experience
product failures during the warranty period
• Increased customer satisfaction
• Reduction of followup costs
VTS³ and VCS³ Stress Screening Systems:
Impressive Technology
More power
The VTS³ and VCS³ temperature and climatic testing systems
fill the gap between our proven temperature and
climatic testing systems in the VT³ and VC³ range and our
shock test systems.
With test space sizes from 190 to 1540 litres and a temperature
range from 72 °C to +180 °C, we are able to
meet nearly all customer requirements. The VCS³ model
series implements common climatic testing standards.
Preferred rates of change are 5 K/min, 10 K/min and
15 K/min. For special applications, we offer test systems
up to 30 K/min.
Whether in production, research, development or quality
assurance – do not leave the functionality of your products
to chance, entrust it to us.
Thought through:
Equipment that unites function and design
Test space door
The highquality insulated test space door allows
access to the entire crosssection of the test
space. Special circumferential profiled seals and
the selftightening onehand door lock guarantee
optimal sealing of the door.
Test space
The corrosionresistant test space is produced
from highquality stainless steel and welded
vapour tight. Smooth surfaces, rounded corners
and embossed side walls to accommodate
shelves guarantee easy cleaning of the test
space.
Water reservoir
The VCS³ climatic test system is equipped with
an integrated and easily accessible water supply
tank. The water level is reliably detected by
means of two sensors. If refilling is required, the
user is informed via the colour touchpanel.

Temperature monitoring
An independent, adjustable t min /t max temperature
limiter protects the test specimens against thermal
overload (in conformity with EN 605192,
2006). A safety temperature limiter is additionally
installed to ensure that the test system does not
become overheated.
Stainless steel entry ports
Models of all sizes are equipped as standard with
two stainless steel entry ports (approx. 50 mm
on the left and approx. 125 mm on the right) for
introducing measurement and supply connections
or additional equipment. The stainless steel
construction prevents intrusion of moisture into
the insulation – even under extreme climatic conditions
of 98% RH.
Psychrometric humidity measurement
(VCS³ only)
The humidity measurement system is based on
the psychrometric measurement principle and
works with a continuously wetted, easily accessible
wet temperature sensor. This type of wetting
leads to selfcleaning of the sensor and thus to
a tremendous extension of service life. Other humidity
measuring systems are optionally available.
Reliable drying:
The spacesaving compressed air dryer
Intelligently modified:
Telescopic extension drawers
Because of our long experience with stress screening
systems, we can offer you a large selection of options,
modifications and special accessories. Our goal is to satisfy
the customer‘s requests with tailormade, flexible solutions
of the highest quality.
Here is a selection of our optional special equipment:
Notch port
The door frame can be optionally provided with a notch
port. This facilitates the introduction of measurement and
control elements and makes it possible to load the test
space with already connected test specimens.
Compressedair dryer
The compressedair dryer supports the dehumidification
process in the test system. It enables generation of extremely
dry air, thus reliably avoiding condensation in the
test space. The optional compressedair dryer is included
in the equipment attachment for units up to 5 K/min.
Telescopic extension drawers
The test space can be optionally equipped with telescopic
extension drawers. The drawers are completely made
of stainless steel and can each support test specimens
up to 30 kg. The telescopic extension drawers can be
pulled out up to 80% of their length. The insert shelves
included as standard equipment are not needed with this
modification.

Colour touchpanel and S!MPATI*:
Communication with a system
More control in a shorter time
With its menudriven user interface, the removable 8“ colour
touchpanel coordinates and monitors the tasks of the
individual service components.
Process sequences, system conditions and other process
images are presented as graphical, selfexplanatory
pictograms. This makes use even more intuitive.
Up to 100 testing programs can be easily and securely
created, stored and reactivated. The desired functions
are initiated with one touch.
The system is compatible with the S!MPATI* simulation
management software.
S!MPATI* – sophisticated simplicity
The S!MPATI* computerassisted simulation management
software is the optimal system for using and
controlling testing and production systems. Your data is
seamlessly documented and graphically evaluated.
With S!MPATI* you can:
• control test and process flows more easily
• store and evaluate measurement and process data
with clearly presented graphics
• easily create convenient test programs with a graphical
editor
• link up to 99 systems to one another
• optimally utilize lab capacity with an easily understood
time management system
