Scenes from the film “AsMelhores Coisas do Mundo”,sponsored by <strong>Sabesp</strong>Social investment, tax incentive andinstitutional supportIn order to create opportunities to those interested in providing institutional andfinancial support to environmental, social and cultural and sports projects, weoffer a selection process, using tender invitations, to legal entities that engagein environmental preservation work and are aligned with the social responsibilityprinciples, cultural incentive, partnerships with civil society organizations and thecommunity.In 2008, <strong>Sabesp</strong> invested, by means of tax incentives, R$3.3 million to the StateFund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, through CONDECA (State Councilfor the Rights of Children and Adolescents), whose Mission is to “Incentive, decideand control the actions related to the Policies for the Compliance of the Rights ofChildren and Adolescents in the State of São Paulo”.Our <strong>Sabesp</strong> Program for Those Who Want Culture sponsors several literary, visualarts, music, dance, theater, circus, cinema, and preservation of cultural heritageprojects. In 2009, we invested R$13.5 in cultural projects using incentives underthe Rouanet Act and Audiovisual Law. We also sponsored sports events andallocated R$3.3 million to water sports such as swimming, rowing and canoeing.We launched together with the São Paulo State Government the CEU (UnifiedEducational Centers) and Water Olympic project to encourage children from theParaisópolis community to start swimming and contribute to their growth ascitizens. The São Paulo sails project is a SABESP partnership with the São PauloState Department of Sports, leisure and Tourism. The objective is to create andsponsor sailing sports and leisure centers, to train students from public schools.Prospects for 2010The main challenge for 2010 is intensifying the Volunteers Program from anintense mobilization of the <strong>Sabesp</strong> community and promoting monthly campaignsfocused on the Millennium Development Goals. We expect, with this, a largeparticipation of the entire Company that should culminate in the Millennium Day,scheduled for Saturday, October 23, 2010. On this date, the volunteer employeeswill promote a project drive in the communities that will benefit from this greatmovement. We consider the <strong>Sabesp</strong> Volunteers Program a great opportunitythrough which it is possible to improve the quality of life of less favored andmaintain the development of sustainable ideas and actions.Instituto Criança Cidadã (ICC)We are the cosponsors of ICC (Citizen Child Institute), whose mission is investing in theeducation and training of youngster from poor families, supporting education, cultureand welfare in the São Paulo Metropolitan area. The Institute helps, free of charge, in thedevelopment of the community and the citizenship of approximately 6,000 childrenand adolescents, benefiting 3,500 families through 9 daycare centers, 3 school circus, 2solidarity homes, and 1 cultural center. In 2009, we renewed our contribution for anothertwo years, totaling a support of R$4.8 million to ICC.Ballet Stagium Circo Vox and Bossa 50 Shows sponsored by <strong>Sabesp</strong>.
