<strong>Sabesp</strong> MemoryThe former building of the <strong>Sabesp</strong> Museum, located in the <strong>Sabesp</strong> sewagelifting station, will serve as headquarters of the project “Water Space”. The firststage of the project has already been completed and included the mapping andorganization of the State of São Paulo water and sewage unit, which cover morethan one hundred years. The objective of the second step is to raise funds torenovate this station, opened in 1897, which will house a cultural center, topromote cultural events and sustainable practices. This new building will be partof the “new downtown”, another location to attract São Paulo inhabitants andtourists. It will be part of the state capital history tour, with very informativelayout and pieces.Winter Clothes Campaign<strong>Sabesp</strong> Plant in Pinheiros, São Paulo.One of the objectives of the Winter Clothes Campaign, promoted by the SãoPaulo State Solidarity and Social Development Fund (FUSSESP) is to grant thebenefited families and organizations a means to generate income and improvetheir quality of life, maintaining their focus on the family and inclusive solidarity.We participate in this campaign through the involvement of our employees andpartnerships with local governments, social funds, or welfare departments. Duringthe 2009 Winter Clothes Campaign, we gathered 3,169,889 pieces of clothingand blankets, distributed to 391 charities, and promoted 19 social inclusion andincome generation actions.Program of Guided Tours of <strong>Sabesp</strong> Facilities<strong>Sabesp</strong> reopened the doors of the <strong>Sabesp</strong> Program space, now with modernarchitecture, interactive and environment friendly, made in certified reforestingwood (FSC seal), and wall covered in “ecological leather”. The objective of thisspace is to call participants’ attention, guided by monitors specially trained topass on information on water preservation and notions on respect with theenvironment.Through the tour program developed by us, visitors can know the sanitation cycleby visiting the Water and Sewage Treatment Plant all over the State. In 2009,there were 1,628 tours, gathering a total of 59,926 visitors.Apprentice ProgramWe should also highlight in 2009, the annual Apprentice Program cycle, involving500 youngsters that contributed to their development as citizens, professionalqualification, and insertion in the formal labor market, by creating education andjob training opportunities. The program is developed in association with SENAI –<strong>Sabesp</strong>, a crucial partnership to offer the apprentices hands-on and theoreticalqualification to be able to work in administration, accounting, finance, and humanresources function in any business.144 Relatório de Sustentabilidade 2009 145Estação <strong>Sabesp</strong> em Pinheiros, São Paulo.
