These requirements shall also be applicable to pilots who exercisetheir privileges under Open Rating in terms <strong>of</strong> AIC 3 <strong>of</strong> 1985.Sl.No. Period <strong>of</strong> absence from flying Requirement <strong>of</strong> Training/Checks1. More than 3 months but <strong>no</strong>texceeding 6 months.Ground Refresher on Technical/Performance with qualified AME/Examiner on type. The Examinershall make an endorsement to thiseffect in the Pilot’s Log Book.The pilots shall also update himselffrom the AME on type about thetechnical status <strong>of</strong> the aircraft and1


also familiarise himself with aircraft’scockpit layout (Instruments &Controls), performance andlimitations and the operating speedsfrom the Pilot’s Hand Book or theOperating Manual <strong>of</strong> aircraft.2. More than 6 months but <strong>no</strong>texceeding 12 months.Ground Refresher on Technical/Performance with qualified AME/Examiner on type. The Examinershall make an endorsement to thiseffect in the Pilot’s Log Book.Thereafter, the pilot shall undergoFamiliarization Flying Training by Dayor Night <strong>of</strong> a duration <strong>of</strong> <strong>no</strong>t less than00:45 hours with DGCA approvedExaminer on type.In case <strong>of</strong> aeroplanes <strong>no</strong>t equippedwith dual controls, the pilot shallundertake solo flying for the sameduration without any passenger onboard.3. Exceeding 12 months. Ground Refresher on Technical/Performance with qualified AME/Examiner on type. The Examinershall make an endorsement to thiseffect in the Pilot’s Log Book.Thereafter, the pilot shall undergoFamiliarization Flying Training by Dayor Night <strong>of</strong> a duration <strong>of</strong> <strong>no</strong>t less than00:45 hours followed by Skill Test byday and by night with DGCAapproved Examiner on type. The SkillTest shall also include 3 take-<strong>of</strong>f andlanding each by day and by night.In case <strong>of</strong> aeroplanes <strong>no</strong>t equippedwith dual controls, the pilot shallundertake a minimum <strong>of</strong> two hours’2


solo flying <strong>of</strong> which one hour shall beby night without any passenger onboard. The two hours’ solo flying shallinclude a minimum <strong>of</strong> 3 take-<strong>of</strong>f andlanding each by day and by night.Pilots who have undergone training on simulator as part <strong>of</strong> their initialendorsement will be required to do re-current training on a similartype/model/series Flight Simulator or Flight Training Device (FTD) at least oncein two years. In case specific type simulator is <strong>no</strong>t available, the re-currenttraining can also be carried out on a similar Flight Simulator with prior approval <strong>of</strong>DGCA.Note :The Ground Refresher on Technical/Performance shall include review <strong>of</strong>Refresher <strong>of</strong> Aircraft Systems, Pilot’s Flight Manual, Emergency and Ab<strong>no</strong>rmalsituation. In addition, the pilot will refresh himself on <strong>General</strong> Meteorology,Climatology <strong>of</strong> Area <strong>of</strong> Operation, ATC Procedures, Operational Procedures,various Air Safety Circulars, Airworthiness Advisory Circulars and OperationsCirculars issued by DGCA.
