Moreover, asthe vast majority of students in British HigherEducation are over 18 years of age, they arerecognised as adults and a considerableamount of freedom is extended to them sothat they can regulate their own studies. While PDIC (also known as the College) fullyendorses the idea that students must takeresponsibility for their own learning, the Collegedoes have a minimum 85% Attendance Policywhich aims to limit the number of thoseindividuals who fall unnecessarily into badhabits of non-attendance or poor attendanceand ensures that good study routines areestablished. This policy stipulates thatsuccessful progression is based on studentsmaintaining an 85% attendance in all classes, and as such the policy is monitored closely.Students who do not comply will find that theywill jeopardise their ability to pass module/sor their programme. PDIC reserves the right toterminate the candidature to an award of anystudent who has a poor attendance record.PDIC recognises that there is a direct linkbetween poor attendance and poor academicperformance by individuals. The Collegealso holds the view that students who failto attend classes are letting themselvesand their sponsors down.
