PATHWAVES PAGE 2From the Editor’s Desk...I take the opportunity to welcome everyone into the ever growing family of Pathways. This soon transforms to a warm, enthusiastic environment encouraging the newcomers to become one of their own, allaying any fears of loneliness. Studentsare encouraged to believe in themselves and given opportunities for holistic development to face the complex challenges ofthe modern world. The new scholars were initiated into these principles for the first few days for better integration. The students soon settled into a rhythm impatient to plunge themselves in academic and extra- curricular activities. Theschool soon got involved in a flurry of activities with gusto and enthusiasm. PATHWAVES PAGE 4The first assembly of the senior school for year 2012-2013The new Pathways year finally began. The students in senior school had grown exponentially (indicating thepopularity of our school amongst the children). On the first day of our new session, there was a different kind of buzz inthe air. You could see the group of new entrants huddled in a corner, some anxious whether they will be able to mesh inthe new environment; others eager and confident to make a mark of their own amongst their peer group. Amongst the oldcrowd, the attitudes were different; some as usual were nerds, attached to their books right from start, others were lookingto play a prank or two, still others were more inclined towards extracurricular activities (My kind). But whatever the outershell may be, you could never guess the level of excitement coursing through the veins of the students. Doubly charged atthe sight of their friends and already making plans for the next holiday. All of us soon assembled for the inaugural assembly where we were addressed by our School Director. Her welcomeaddress made all of us feel that we were already a part of Pathways. Then a treasure hunt had been organised to helpbreak the ice. It was a lot of fun and helped everyone to mingle with each other. After that all the students left for theirrespective forms, lost in their thoughts making plans for the coming session. What an end to an exciting first day.By: Digvijay SinghGrade 9From the Primary SchoolGreat Expressions…. PATHWAVES PAGE 766th ANNIVERSARY OF INDIA’SINDEPENDENCE CELEBRATEDAT PATHWAYSIndia’s 65th Independence Day was celebratedwith gusto and enthusiasm on 14th of August. A largeaudience of the entire Pathways family gathered in thebasketball court and listened to inspiring speeches withrapt attention.A unique way of celebrating this day was theInter-house Collage making competition related to thetheme ‘Freedom’. Each house prepared an apt andbeautiful collage that precisely spoke about whatindependence meant to them on the day ofcelebration. This competition not only showcased thecreativity among the senior Pathwazians, but alsoshowed the spirit and significance of the IndependenceDay in India.Middle school students enlightened us aboutindependence and freedom, while the senior boys bandwas at its talented best. They played a popular patrioticsong. Their melodic, synchronized singing and playingof instruments was not only entertaining, but alsohelped in enthusing all of us with patriotic zeal andfervor.Adding to this lively spirit of the day, the floor wasdecorated with flowers in tri-colour, while someteachers wore the Indian flag as a pretty little flower intheir hair. Our school Director hoisted the respected Indianflag, which once pulled open, threw out pink petalflowers and also danced in all directions in the wind.Everyone joined in to sing the national anthem withthe school choir leading in their lusty sonorous voices;everyone’s eyes following the movement of the flag asthey sang. The Director’s speech was short but veryinformative and inspiring. Her sharp words were strongenough to raise the patriotic feelings that lay hidden ineach and every person. We look forward to even more excitingcelebrations in the coming years!MRS NARANG WALKING THE CONDUIT TO HOISTTHE NATIONAL FLAGBy: Nitya PanditGrade 10Pathways School, Baliawas, Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, Gurgaon - 122 003 (NCR Delhi), India
