我 们 的 社 区 Our CommunityCommon Gifts, Special Care— GE Volunteers Organized 2011 OperationSecret Santa with HKCS Successfully小 礼 物 大 温 暖—2011 小 天 使 送 暖 活 动 顺 利 开 展今 年 已 经 是 GE 香 港 志 愿 者 开 展 小 天 使 送 暖 活 动 的 第 八 个 年 头 。 八 年 间 ,GE 志 愿 者 一 直 与 香 港 基 督 教 服 务 处 合 作 , 为 香 港 的 贫 困儿 童 送 去 关 怀 。2011 年 12 月 17 日 ,GE 志 愿 者 与 儿 童 青 少 年 服 务 处 ( 北 角 快 乐 少 年 俱 乐 部 ) 举 行 了 盛 大 的 圣 诞 晚 会 , 邀 请 孩 子及 他 们 的 家 人 一 同 参 加 , 共 同 度 过 一 个 开 心 快 乐 的 圣 诞 节 。在 派 对 举 办 前 一 个 月 ,50 多 名 来 自 北 角 快 乐 少 年 俱 乐 部 的 孩 子 们 已 向 圣 诞 老 人 写 信 , 希 望 圣 诞 老 人 为 他 们 的 亲 人 送 上 一 份 礼 物 。最 终 , 其 中 的 20 个 孩 子 赢 得 了 与 圣 诞 老 人 见 面 的 机 会 。 孩 子 们 虽 小 , 但 他 们 的 故 事 却 很 感 人 。 一 个 11 岁 的 男 孩 希 望 能 得 到 一 双运 动 鞋 , 因 为 他 担 心 妈 妈 经 常 穿 着 那 双 坏 掉 的 鞋 子 会 对 膝 盖 和 关 节 造 成 损 伤 。 一 个 9 岁 的 小 男 孩 希 望 能 送 给 爸 爸 一 块 手 表 , 因 为他 希 望 爸 爸 能 每 天 按 时 回 家 , 这 样 就 可 以 有 更 多 的 时 间 陪 伴 家 人 。 这 些 礼 物 虽 然 都 不 是 很 贵 重 , 但 却 意 义 深 远 。当 天 , 共 有 30 多 名 来 自 不 同 部 门 的 GE 志 愿 者 参 加 了 这 一 聚 会 。 开 场 时 ,GE 志 愿 者 唱 响 美 妙 的 圣 诞 歌 曲 , 将 欢 乐 带 给 现 场 的 每 一个 人 。 在 礼 物 赠 送 环 节 , 由 GE 志 愿 者 装 扮 成 的 神 秘 “ 圣 诞 老 人 ” 现 身 , 为 孩 子 们 送 上 了 圣 诞 礼 物 。 作 为 感 谢 , 孩 子 们 不 但 准 备 了圣 诞 贺 卡 , 而 且 还 表 演 了 一 出 小 型 话 剧 , 现 场 欢 声 笑 语 不 断 , 气 氛 热 烈 。“ 爱 • 给 予 • 分 享 ” 是 小 天 使 送 暖 行 动 的 主 旨 。 在 这 八 年 间 , 已 有 超 过 500 名 孩 子 及 其 家 人 受 惠 于 这 一 活 动 , 而 参 与 其 中 的 GE 志愿 者 也 同 样 收 获 了 满 满 的 感 动 与 温 暖 。GE 医 疗 的 Benny Liu 虽 是 第 一 次 参 加 这 一 活 动 , 却 已 被 这 种 温 暖 深 深 打 动 , 他 希 望 每 年 都有 机 会 变 身 成 圣 诞 老 人 给 孩 子 们 赠 送 礼 物 , 为 孩 子 们 带 去 欢 乐 。 来 自 GE 金 融 的 Kitty Kwan 几 乎 每 年 都 参 与 , 但 她 觉 得 今 年 参 与 的意 义 比 往 年 更 为 重 大 。 因 为 已 有 身 孕 的 她 , 想 和 宝 宝 一 起 把 这 份 爱 传 递 出 去 , 带 给 更 多 的 人 温 暖 与 关 爱 。 正 是 因 为 有 越 来 越 多 的志 愿 者 无 私 参 与 , 才 使 得 这 一 活 动 愈 加 温 暖 。 小 天 使 送 暖 行 动 还 会 持 续 开 展 下 去 , 期 待 更 多 人 参 与 到 这 一 活 动 中 来 , 和 我 们 一 起传 递 关 爱 、 播 种 温 暖 。Love can make even the coldest winters seem a little bit warmer.Last year was the eighth consecutive year that GE volunteerspartnered with Hong Kong Christian Services (HKCS) to organizethe “Operation Secret Santa” program for underprivilegedchildren in Hong Kong. As in previous years, on December 17,2011, GE volunteers gathered at HKCS North Point IntegratedChildren & Youth Service (North Point Happy Teens Club) to enjoya heartfelt Christmas party with the children and their families asChristmas quickly approached.A month before the party, more than 50 students from HKCSNorth Point Happy Teens Club wrote a letter to Santa Clausasking him for a special gift for their loved ones. Twenty studentswere selected to meet Santa Claus. Although the students areyoung, their requests for Santa were heart-warming and sweet.An 11-year-old boy asked for a pair of sport shoes because hewas worried about his mother’s bad knees and joints becauseshe was wearing old, worn shoes. Another 9-year-old boy askedfor a watch for his father, because he wanted his father to beable to get home from work on time to spend more time with thefamily.Also, more than 30 GE volunteers from different businessesperformed Christmas songs. During the gift presentation, the“Secret Santa”, dressed up by GE volunteers, showed up andgave the students gifts they requested in the letters. The studentsalso prepared Christmas cards and a mini-play to show theirappreciation to Santa Claus for making their wishes come true. Atthe end of the party, Santa Claus presented each participant witha special gift.“Love, Give and Share” are the core concepts of the OperationSecret Santa program. Over the past eight years, more than 500children and their families have benefited from this program, andGE volunteers learn the importance of giving. Benney Liu fromGE Healthcare was a first time participant this year and wastouched by the students’ actions and stories, and he hopes therewill be more opportunities for him to spread Christmas cheer.As a regular participant, Kitty Kwan from GE Capital felt herparticipation in this year’s program was better than ever becauseshe too will have a child of her own and wanted to spread loveand care to as many children as possible. Thanks to thesevolunteers’ participation and devotion, the event will likely be heldnext year.
