Remembering Lakin
On September 10, 2008, the world stood still
for Dana Schweitzer and, every day since,
it hasn’t stopped spinning. This day marks
the day that Dana and her husband Steve lost their
11-month-old angel baby, Lakin Ann, and their
other daughter, Tehya, lost her sister and friend.
“It’s easy to feel alone. Like we are the only
people in the world this has ever happened to, but
we’re not the only ones. It happens everywhere,”
said Dana.
The Schweitzers searched the Internet for
answers and comfort until they were introduced
to the Angel Babies Support Group that meets
the second Thursday of each month at the Spirit
of Life Church in Mandan. The group serves as
a place for them to share stories of their babies,
laugh, cry and remember.
During her Internet research on infant loss,
Dana came across the website www.october15th.
com, the official site of Pregnancy and Infant Loss
Remembrance Day.
