2006 Women’s Golf ReviewThe <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong> women’s golf team had afantastic season in 2006. <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong> claimed the2006 Northern Athletics women’s golf championship,becoming the first team champion of the newly formedconference. The championship also marked the first forthe AU squad that is in its fourth year of existence.The Spartans handled the competition easily,running away with the championship by a margin of 38strokes. The women’s golf team was also recognized onthe individual level where freshman Lindsey Pilmer(<strong>Aurora</strong>, IL/<strong>Aurora</strong> H.S.) and senior Brittany Butcher(St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East H.S.) made the All-Northern Athletics Conference team. Also, Coach ChadJohansen was honored by winning the NAC Coach ofthe Year. Walsh also served as an Assistant FootballCoach at AU from 1986-1996 and was part of thecoaching staff that reinstated football after it had beendropped in 1952. This Is <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong>Eckhart Hall<strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong> traces its origins to the 1893 founding of a seminary in the small townof Mendota, IL. Though established initially to prepare graduates for ministry, the institutionsoon adopted a broader mission and moved to a new campus on the western edge of thenearby community of <strong>Aurora</strong>. With this change came a different name and a growing enrollment.In 1985, the institution was rechristened <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong>.In 1992, the <strong>Aurora</strong> and George Williams College traditions blended when the two institutionsentered into the affiliation agreement that paved the way for a merger eight yearslater.Today <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong> is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the NorthCentral Association to award degrees at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
