The answer is becausewe have to be! The Federalmandate of the "No Child LeftBehind" law centers on academicachievement and schoolattendance. Just as a school canreceive punitive sanctions for poorachievement, the same can occurfor poor attendance rates. I'm happy to reportthat we received that grant. Ourschool's standardized test scoresand student enrollment compositiondo not meet the criteria forseveral district, state and federalassistance programs. However, wedo have a number of students whoneed assistance. With this grantmoney, we will be able to offertutoring to these students thissummer.The PTA will continue researchinggrant opportunities - if youknow of any or your employer hasany opportunities available, pleaselet us know.Did you have an opportunity toask your child(ren) what theirfavorite part was about our InternationalDays? My daughter's wasthe 'taquitos'. She said they were'just spicy enough'. I also heard alot of feedback from the studentsabout the decorations, the gameshow, and the unending entertainment.Thank you InternationalDays Committee and volunteersfor putting on such a great week!And thank you Mrs. Bedard forletting the children showcase theirart work throughout the hallways.I'd also like to thank the Paxtoniastaff for pitching in and supportingthe activities and schedulethroughout the week.We had many other activitiesgoing on this past month.Congratulations to all the studentswho participated in the ReflectionsProgram. The artists, dancers,writers and choreographers of ourschool made us proud!
