Always encourage the passing of the football as opposed to kicking it long2. Begin our play from the defence, who are encouraged to start our attacks3. Use a short passing game, with longer passes only where appropriate andas the exception rather than the rule4. Encourage technique and skill5. Play attacking, entertaining football6. Academy ContentThe key club mantra is “intensity” in both training and games - both speedof passing and movement with and without the ball. The club places a heavyemphasis in training of having players under pressure particularly through theuse of small sided games.The key player development areas covered in the Academy are:• Technical - Individual Skills, Ball Control, Dribbling, Passing, 1v1 Attackingand Defending, Receiving to Turn, Turning with the Ball, Running with theBall, Crossing and Finishing, Shooting, Heading• Tactical - Possession, Playing out from the Back, Combination Play,Attacking Principles, Switching Play, Finishing in the Final Third, Transition,Team Defending, Counter Attacking• Goalkeeping - Agility and Reaction, Ball Handling, Coordination andBalance, Dealing with Crosses, Dives and Saves, Flexibility, Positioning,Strength and Power, Shot Stopping and Blocking, DistributionThe pathway to players reachingtheir full potential is all here atNorthbridge FC.Program Duration• 40 week programme• 2 sessions pre-Christmas• 3 x weekly sessions 28 January – End August 2013• 2 x weekly sessions September – End October 2013• 4 day holiday camp intensives (April, July*, October)• Kanga Cup, State Cup, Gala Days, Tours (priced seperately)* Kanga Cup may replace the July campTraining Times & LocationsDates and training times will be confirmed in the New Year (subject toconfirmation of field allocations from Willoughby City Council). Academy teamswill train a minimum of 2 x week at Northbridge Oval and the 3rd session willbe at another oval in the area with lights (e.g. Willoughby Park, NaremburnPark or at the new artificial grass futsal courts at The Willis (Castle Cove).About Northbridge FCNorthbridge was formed in the early 1950’s and has grown to be the largestfootball club in Australia with over 2,300 players in 2012 across 170 differentteams including over 300 players in the under 6 age-group alone. The majorityof our players compete in competitions run by the Northern Suburbs FootballAssociation. In 2011, the club also fielded men’s and women’s youth and adultteams in Football NSW State League competitions.Our demonstrated commitment to youth development can be evidenced fromseason 2012 where our junior boys youth teams (under 10, 11 & 12) wereoutstanding in the season long Premier Development Programme (PDP)against Premier League clubs and were widely regarded as the leading clubin both style of play and performance. Three (3) of our Academy players weresubsequently selected into FNSW Institute teams. Additionally, our under 12girls State League team were victorious in the prestigious Cheryl SalisburyCup against the best under 12 girls teams across Sydney.In 2011, Northbridge FC re-took possession of Northbridge Oval after theinstallation of the FIFA 1 approved artificial grass playing surface which allowsthe Club to train and play in all weather conditions. Northbridge FC is the onlyclub in Sydney with its own artificial grass field.Northbridge FC is “not for profit” - any surplus is put back into ourprogrammes.Northbridge FC continues to supplyboots, shin pads and uniforms to theNorthbridge Nomads in Cambodia.
