400.5.24. Personnel InvolvementIn order to achieve successful results, the program must involve persons at a wide variety ofadministrative levels. Management belief in and support of the program is the primaryrequisite. Participation and cooperation of all employees shall be actively encouraged.5. OrganizationA. Safety and Health CoordinatorAt ECSU the Safety Officer serves as the Safety and Health Coordinator. This is a fulltimeposition dedicated to the coordination of the safety and health program.The safety and health coordinator shall maintain close liaison with the North CarolinaDepartment of Labor, and shall prepare such reports and maintain such records asrequired by that department or the chancellor.A principal responsibility of the safety and health coordinator shall be the preparation ofa campus safety and health plan in accordance with standards and requirements of theDepartment of Labor.All safety and health program records shall be open for inspection at any time by theNorth Carolina Department of Labor and by ECSU’s safety and health officer.B. Safety CommitteeThe purpose of ECSU’s Safety Committee is to seek to enhance institutionaleffectiveness through promoting safety and accident prevention, removal of architecturalbarriers, recommendations covering campus vehicular traffic and concerning fire hazardsand preparedness for civil disasters. The committee reports to the Vice Chancellor forBusiness and Finance.6. Reference MaterialThe following reference material is available through the North Carolina Department ofLabor:A.
