Storing/Saving DataLoading <strong>Use</strong>r Files and Pattern Files<strong>Use</strong>r and pattern files residing on a USB storage device can be loaded into <strong>the</strong> instrument.CAUTION• When a <strong>Use</strong>r file is loaded, user songs 001–005, <strong>the</strong> user patterns,and <strong>the</strong> performance memory will all be overwritten. If you onlyload a pattern file, only <strong>the</strong> user patterns will be overwritten. Saveimportant data to a USB storage device before loading data thatwill overwrite it.•Pattern files created on o<strong>the</strong>r Yamaha keyboards (“sty” file extensiononly) can be loaded into MM6/MM8 <strong>Use</strong>r Pattern No. 169. Patternfiles cannot be created using <strong>the</strong> MM6/MM8.4 <strong>Use</strong> <strong>the</strong> dial to select <strong>the</strong> user file orpattern file you want to load.All user files in <strong>the</strong> USB storage device will bedisplayed first, followed by <strong>the</strong> pattern files.NOTE•Pattern files must be located in <strong>the</strong> root directory. Pattern fileslocated within folders will not be recognized.1 With <strong>the</strong> USB storage device containing<strong>the</strong> file you want to load connected to<strong>the</strong> USB TO DEVICE connector, checkthat “CONNECT” is showing in <strong>the</strong>MAIN display.2 Press <strong>the</strong> [MENU] <strong>but</strong>ton.3 <strong>Use</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>CATEGORY</strong> [<strong>DEC</strong>] / [<strong>INC</strong>] <strong>but</strong>tonsto locate <strong>the</strong> Load item.5 Press <strong>the</strong> [EXECUTE] <strong>but</strong>ton.A confirmation message will appear on <strong>the</strong> display.You can press <strong>the</strong> [<strong>DEC</strong>/NO] <strong>but</strong>ton atthis point to cancel <strong>the</strong> operation.6 Press <strong>the</strong> [EXECUTE] <strong>but</strong>ton again, or<strong>the</strong> [<strong>INC</strong>/YES] <strong>but</strong>ton, and <strong>the</strong> load operationwill begin.CAUTION• Once <strong>the</strong> load-in-progress message appears in <strong>the</strong> display, <strong>the</strong>operation cannot be canceled. Never turn off <strong>the</strong> power orremove <strong>the</strong> USB storage device during this operation.7 A message will appear on <strong>the</strong> displaywhen <strong>the</strong> operation is complete.Press <strong>the</strong> [EXIT] <strong>but</strong>ton to return to <strong>the</strong> MAINdisplay.NOTE• The SMF saved to a USB storage device can not be loaded as auser song.MM6/MM8 Owner’s Manual 71
