50 business news... GSH wins FM contract at Amsterdam Airport GSH has won a prestigious three year FM contract with Schiphol Nederland B.V. which operates Amsterdam Airport. The contract covers ‘hard services’ at Terminal 3, Schiphol Plaza and piers E, F & G totalling 275,000m2 of floor space. Twin priorities are to maximise plant operating efficiency via technical engineering excellence and maintain a comfortable passenger environment at this leading airport complex. Commencing on October 1, 2005, the contract covers round-theclock maintenance and management of m & e and fire protection installations and will be undertaken by an on-site FM team. Working with project appointed Facilities Management Fritsch, Chiari and Partner ZT Gmb as specialists in glazing safety, approximately 2,500 panes of toughened glass weighing between 104 and 157kg each have been treated with the system as a safety precaution to unpredictable glass failure. As principal contractor, Pentagon Filmtek’s expertise has included the organisation and carrying out of everything from access, replacement of glass where necessary and application of the FT800 glass containment film and bolted anchoring system without the disruption and extra cost of removal. He won the Award for his outstanding work leading the team who bid for and built the Paul O’Gorman building for the Northern Institute of Cancer Research at Newcastle University. The design and quality of construction of this landmark building has played a major part in creating world-class facilities for cancer drug discovery and application, designed to attract research scientists from around the world.
