RIDI Lighting was seen as the perfect luminaire
manufacturer for the newly designed
lighting scheme at Christian Aid’s London
office. RIDI’s combination of functional design
and high-performance, supported by its outstanding
value made it a clear choice for
building specifiers M Moser Associates, when
it came to choosing a manufacturer.
RIDI lights were chosen for installation in
almost every area of the 45,000 sq ft building,
which is spread over six floors and includes a
basement area. RIDI was used in important

Tessera has introduced eleven
new contemporary colourways for
Weave, one of the most widely
specified of Tessera’s ‘high end’
G2 Collection of carpet tile
ranges. A brand new shadecard
shows this richly textured loop
pile tile in a total of eighteen commercially
appealing colour options
- twice as many as its predecessor.
Manufactured on an advanced FRS
machine to build in distinctive texture,
Weave features a tightly
packed mixture of high and low
twisted loops which result in a
strong directional grain and an
organic appearance. The tiles have
been primarily designed for tessellated
or ‘quarter turn’ installation.
A very different aesthetic can also
be achieved by laying Weave in
monolithic fashion.
Appearance is matched by performance
as Weave carpet tiles are
made from 100% solution dyed
Antron® Excel SC. This yarn has
areas where first
impressions count,
including the reception
and in meeting rooms.
London-based M Moser
Associates had specified
RIDI’s lights for
previous projects, and
used the company again
for the Christian Aid
project.

to offer the client a complete lighting solution
with a multitude of options for different areas
of the building, for example complying with the
LG3a requirements in employee work areas.”
The RIDI lights used by M Moser Associates in
the Christian Aid project included examples of
the recessed luminaire series EMML K and
EBIMML, the mirror luminaire series SP, the suspended
luminaire series SM-TI-EVG, the AEBR
SG specular parabolic louvre range, and the

‘Environmentally Preferable
Product’ (EPP) status and for its
renowned resilience, colour fastness,
stain resistance and longlasting
appearance retention, even in
the most demanding commercial
environments.

our colour offer in the blue-grey
spectrum with intriguing new
shades and have introduced a new
range of rich warm neutrals which
perfectly complement the natural
organic feel of this textured tile.

have given us excellent feedback on
the new palette and have told us
we can expect to see Weave specified
on a much wider range of projects
as a direct result.”

RIDI comes to
charity’s aid
HRL display light ranges. All are ideal for modern
commercial lighting applications. The
recently revised range of EBD downlighters was
also selected, which is now fully compliant with
the latest UK and European regulations and has
been completely redesigned and upgraded to
provide an affordable, versatile and attractive
downlighter solution for any type of commercial
office lighting application.
Product selection was made to provide an economic
blend of compact fluorescent down
lights, fluorescent modular fitting display lights
in low voltage, as well as emergency lighting.
As well as this, simple surface-mounted light
fittings were used in areas with concrete ceilings.
Care was taken to provide lighting for
open plan office areas, without damaging glare
to users of VDUs. Lux levels vary from 300 to
500 throughout the office.

The effects of noise
on staff efficiency
Studies show disruptive noise and
lack of speech privacy are leading
problems in today's buildings. The
plethora of photocopiers, faxes,
keyboards and printers greatly
increase the background level of
noise, often resulting in people
having to shout in order to be
heard. It's easy to see how multiple
sources of unmanaged sound
can create a cacophony of
unwanted noise!
Open plan offices, speakerphones
and more concentrated work stations
all contribute to making noise
the number one problem in office
buildings. It significantly reduces
work output and leads to declining
