NORDPLAN’s SHADE E9000 has intuitive touch-sensitive
screens on the end panel of each unit. An arrow lights up to
indicate where to touch the screen to open a closed aisle –
especially important in areas with occasional users.
Easy for disabled users to operate
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requires employers
to anticipate needs and make reasonable provision when
designing workplace schemes. This is more than allowing
easy access to buildings: staff can also be disadvantaged if
antiquated or physically demanding filing systems mean
they can’t get to the documents they need to do their job.

any other on the market. For example, infrared sensors
stop units if a low-level beam is broken and the gearing is
pressure sensitive so aisles won’t close if there is any
resistance.

Systems can be programmed to park themselves at equally
spaced intervals out of office hours, usually overnight. This

Adjustable stopping distances to protect over-sized material
Where units hold oversize material, stopping distances can be
easily adjusted so that the adjacent units come to rest before
touching the overhanging item. This ensures that material is
not damaged as aisles close.
Cost and energy efficiencies using optional built-in lighting
NORDPLAN units can be installed with built-in lights that switch
on when an aisle is opened and off when it is closed. As well
being designed specifically to illuminate shelving, there are
considerable energy and cost savings compared with using
ceiling lights.
Restricted access to selected units with key card transponders
Access to some or all units in a system can be controlled by the
use of security codes. This allows sensitive, confidential or
fragile items to be held alongside generally available material,
but with access restricted to those with permission to open the
controlled aisles. Individually programmed key card
transponders can be used in place of PIN codes to allow access
to some or all aisles.
