NORDPLAN’s NEW electronically
powered mobile storage systems
SHADE E9000, NORDPLAN's new
electronically powered high-density
mobile storage system, offers
considerable advantages to users.
Whether it is for offices, archives or
public-access environments like
libraries, SHADE E9000 enables users
to maximise storage capacity while
allowing effortless access to material.
High-density mobile systems are
extremely space efficient and cost
effective, particularly where the
demands for
document storage
have to compete with
other requirements.
They can be manually
operated or
electronically powered.
NORDPLAN’s
mechanical units are
uniquely geared so
they can be moved
with minimal effort,
while its electronic
systems incorporate purpose-built motors that enable aisles
to be accessed by simply touching a control screen.
So what are the advantages of electronically powered
mobile storage systems?
Intuitive, touch-sensitive control
NORDPLAN’s SHADE E9000 has intuitive touch-sensitive
screens on the end panel of each unit. An arrow lights up to
indicate where to touch the screen to open a closed aisle –
especially important in areas with occasional users.
Easy for disabled users to operate
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requires employers
to anticipate needs and make reasonable provision when
designing workplace schemes. This is more than allowing
easy access to buildings: staff can also be disadvantaged if
antiquated or physically demanding filing systems mean
they can’t get to the documents they need to do their job.
NORDPLAN systems can be configured to allow easy
Frequently asked questions about
electronic mobile systems
1. Are they safe to install?
Yes. Our electronically powered systems have been
installed in UK records offices, libraries and major archives
holding important records and priceless collections.
2. Are they complicated to operate?
No. Our systems are easy to use, even for occasional and
first-time users. Just touch the highlighted control by the
aisle you want to open.
3. Are they safe to use?
Yes, our electronic systems have more safety features than
any other on the market. For example, infrared sensors
stop units if a low-level beam is broken and the gearing is
pressure sensitive so aisles won’t close if there is any
resistance.
wheelchair access and they take virtually no physical effort to
use, which is also beneficial for anyone with Repetitive Strain
Injury.
Air circulation parking to eliminate stale air pockets
Systems can be programmed to park themselves at equally
spaced intervals out of office hours, usually overnight. This
improves air circulation and eliminates stale air pockets,
providing optimum long-term storage conditions.
Adjustable stopping distances to protect over-sized material
Where units hold oversize material, stopping distances can be
easily adjusted so that the adjacent units come to rest before
touching the overhanging item. This ensures that material is
not damaged as aisles close.
Cost and energy efficiencies using optional built-in lighting
NORDPLAN units can be installed with built-in lights that switch
on when an aisle is opened and off when it is closed. As well
being designed specifically to illuminate shelving, there are
considerable energy and cost savings compared with using
ceiling lights.
Restricted access to selected units with key card transponders
Access to some or all units in a system can be controlled by the
use of security codes. This allows sensitive, confidential or
fragile items to be held alongside generally available material,
but with access restricted to those with permission to open the
controlled aisles. Individually programmed key card
transponders can be used in place of PIN codes to allow access
to some or all aisles.
