The Arena web-based workstation
package has been introduced as
the standard interface to
CentraLine building management
systems, for energy-efficient networked
automation of heating,
ventilation and air conditioning
(HVAC) systems in small and medium
sized buildings. Buildings can
be managed easily via a browser -
locally or from anywhere in the
world. Typical premises include
offices, schools, health centres,
public and apartment buildings,
health centres and retail premises.
MacLellan scores
with Niketown
Nike, the largest sports and fitness
company in the world, has
appointed MacLellan
International to deliver specialist
services at its UK flagship store,
Niketown, Regent Street, London.
MacLellan’s 17-strong team are
responsible for a full time programme
of cleaning 69,000 sq. ft
of retail and office space spread
over three floors. The store
opened in summer 1999 and is
one of 14 Niketowns globally.
London’s is the largest Niketown
in the world and one of only two
in Europe.
MacLellan tendered in November
2004 and was appointed in March
2005. The contract started on 1st

using an aluminium-framed
entrance system was rejected
because of the unevenness of the
external paving and the fact that
heavy traffic and trolleys would
damage the system unless it was
expensively retrofitted into a new
mat-well. A further complication
was the revolving door area.

Fortis found that the Frontrunner
Entrance flooring system would
provide the perfect solution. This
comprises various options based on
a vinyl grid with absorbent parallel
insets which clean, scrape and dry
shoes effectively.
Here however, the more aggressive
version of Frontrunner Brush was
chosen where the normal
absorbent insets are replaced with
high quality nylon brushes. Because
of its flexibility, the matting contours
perfectly over the paving,
whilst remaining stable underfoot.
Chamfered edges, on three sides of
the 1.22 x 3.2m matting, facilitate
easy access, particularly for the
disabled and trolleys.
It was also simple to
install the matting
on site to fit perfectly
with the awkward
curved shape
around the revolving
door. When
required, the matting
can be lifted
easily to clean up
shoe dirt which has
been shed through
the grid instead of
being transferred
inside.
