Tourist attractions<br />

Lublin is one of <strong>the</strong> oldest cities in <strong>Poland</strong>, priding itself on its historical monuments from all<br />

periods, beginning with <strong>the</strong> Middle Ages. The main tourist attractions include <strong>the</strong> Cracow Gate,<br />

erected in <strong>the</strong> second half of <strong>the</strong> 14th century and rebuilt several times until <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> 18th<br />

century, <strong>the</strong> Old Town, one of <strong>the</strong> finest urban complexes of its kind in <strong>Poland</strong>, and <strong>the</strong> C<strong>as</strong>tle<br />

Hill, with <strong>the</strong> 13th century keep, a Gothic and Renaissance Holy Trinity Chapel and a Neo-gothic<br />

19th century prison, nowadays serving <strong>as</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lublin Museum. The city hosts numerous cultural<br />

events, including <strong>the</strong> Theater Confrontations International Festival, Oldest Songs from Little<br />

Europe International Festival, Culture Night, Jagiellonian Fair, <strong>as</strong> well <strong>as</strong> various student events.<br />

Lublin is one of <strong>the</strong> Polish cities in <strong>the</strong> running <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> title of European Capital of Culture<br />

in 2016.<br />
