Research & Development Center<br />

In 2000 Samsung established a Research and Development Center in Warsaw. Initially, <strong>the</strong><br />

center employed a team of 10 programmers who developed software <strong>for</strong> digital television<br />

decoders. The project’s success h<strong>as</strong> lead to systematic growth. In 2005, a new Digital TV<br />

Division w<strong>as</strong> established and since <strong>the</strong>n it is responsible <strong>for</strong> developing software <strong>for</strong> digital<br />

equipment such <strong>as</strong> LCD and pl<strong>as</strong>ma televisions and projectors. The R&D center’s products are<br />

sold to digital television operators world-wide. The main geographic area of activity is Europe<br />

and Central-E<strong>as</strong>tern Asia.<br />

In 2007, Samsung opened its second R&D center in Warsaw – <strong>the</strong> Mobile Technology Center.<br />

In 2008, it employed 100 specialists and according to <strong>the</strong> company’s plans a fur<strong>the</strong>r 150 people<br />

will be hired in <strong>the</strong> period of 2009-2011. The center is responsible <strong>for</strong> developing and testing<br />

software <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> newest and most technologically-advanced mobile telephones.<br />

experts in digital technology and use of advanced technology.<br />

They provide high quality products and Polish scientific<br />

thought is highly valued on <strong>the</strong> European Market and<br />

recognizable <strong>as</strong> such throughout <strong>the</strong> world.<br />

The establishment of <strong>the</strong> new Mobile R&D center is a result<br />

of <strong>the</strong> predicted high quality of <strong>the</strong> products developed by<br />

Polish engineers.<br />
