<strong>Poland</strong> offers a system of incentives that incre<strong>as</strong>es <strong>the</strong> attractiveness of <strong>the</strong> country<br />

(<strong>for</strong> more details see section “Incentives <strong>for</strong> investors”). In addition, companies investing<br />

here benefit from <strong>the</strong> current policy of <strong>the</strong> Polish Government, which promotes <strong>for</strong>eign<br />

investors <strong>as</strong> important contributors in <strong>the</strong> modernization and rationalization of activities in<br />

various economic sectors, particularly in <strong>the</strong> manufacturing industry (including high-tech),<br />

transportation, communications, banking and environmental protection. In recent years, many<br />

regional shared services centers and R&D centers have been established in <strong>Poland</strong> contributing<br />

to <strong>the</strong> expansion of <strong>the</strong> innovation background and finally allowing <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> creation of a modern<br />

economy b<strong>as</strong>ed on knowledge. Future inflow of FDI will depend largely on <strong>the</strong> development<br />

of <strong>the</strong> service sector and will be influenced by <strong>the</strong> 2012 UEFA European Football<br />

Championships (commonly referred to <strong>as</strong> EURO 2012) 8 and possible entry into Euro Zone.<br />

8 <strong>Poland</strong> will host <strong>the</strong> event toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> Ukraine during <strong>the</strong> summer of 2012.<br />
