DSE 5xxx Configuration Software ManualFunctionHigh Coolant TemperaturesettingsDescriptionThis section is used to configure the Coolant Temperature senderinput.Input Type:-If the module is configured for CanBus J1939, then input type isnot configurable, coolant temperature is read from the engine’s ECUon the CanBus datalink.Disabled - The Coolant Temperature input will not be monitored.Digital Switch, Normally Closed - The Coolant Temperature input is fedfrom an engine mounted digital temperature switch. This switchreturns a closed signal during low temperature conditions, should thetemperature rise above the switch manufacturers trip point the switchcontacts will open.Digital Switch, Normally Open - The Coolant Temperature input is fed froman engine mounted digital temperature switch. This switch returns anopen signal during low temperature conditions, should the temperaturerise above the switch manufacturers trip point the switch contacts willclose.VDO match, 120 o C* - The Coolant Temperature input is connected to aresistive type engine mounted temperature transducer. The output ofthis transducer matches that of a VDO type sender with an operatingrange of up to 120 o C.Datcon HIGH match - The Coolant Temperature input is connected to aresistive type engine mounted temperature transducer. The output ofthis transducer matches that of a Datcon HIGH type sender.Murphy - The Coolant Temperature input is connected to a resistivetype engine mounted temperature transducer. The output of thistransducer matches that of a Murphy type sender.Cummins – The Coolant Temperature input is connected to a resistivetype engine mounted temperature transducer. The output of thistransducer matches that of a Cummins type sender.Pre-Alarm:- (Not available with digital switch inputs) = Engine High Coolant Temperature will NOT give a pre-alarmwarning = Engine High Coolant Temperature WILL give a pre-alarm warningin the event of the engine coolant temperature rising above thedisplayed ‘Coolant Temperature pre-alarm’ value. The ‘Coolanttemperature pre-alarm’ value can be adjusted to suit userrequirements. The Coolant temperature must return to below the ‘coolanttemperature return’ seting before the 52xx/53xx module wil considerthat the coolant temperature is back with in limits and cancel the prealarm.Shutdown -Coolant temperature will give a shutdown alarm in the event of theengine coolant temperature rising above the displayed ‘coolanttemperature trip’ value. The ‘coolant temperature trip’ value can beadjusted to suit user requirements.NOTE:- *Deep Sea Electronics recommended sender. (Part No: 024-007)NOTE:- It is recommended that the engine temperature trip points are setlower or the same as the engine ECU trip points.20DSE 5xxx Configuration software ISSUE 2 02/07/04 AM
