INC Exhibits at the PTNPAconvention <strong>and</strong> trade show in Florida,U.S.A.INC was invited to speak <strong>and</strong> to exhibit at thethree day Peanut <strong>and</strong> Tree <strong>Nut</strong> ProcessorsAssociation <strong>Annual</strong> Convention <strong>and</strong> TradeShow, which took place in January 14-17, <strong>2006</strong>.The INC was represented by the Chairman Mr.Cuneyd Zapsu <strong>and</strong> the Executive Director Ms.Goretti Guasch. Some INC Board memberslike Michael Mendes, Art Beavis, John Petersen<strong>and</strong> Senator Hubert Berrebi were also attendingthis convention representing other companies.The convention took place in the Sheraton BalHarbour Beach Resort Hotel <strong>and</strong> it registered atotal participation of over 400 attendees.The general meeting sessions included a <strong>Nut</strong>Commodity Workshop, a review on theAlmond Industry's Food Safety Action Pl<strong>and</strong>elivered by the Almond Board of California<strong>and</strong> some Industry Panel, Michael Mendesmember of the INC Board <strong>and</strong>President/CEO of Diamond Foods whotalked on New Directions <strong>and</strong> Growth in the<strong>Nut</strong> Industry, some Regulatory <strong>and</strong> SnackFood reports among others speech.Scientific <strong>and</strong> Government AffairsCommitteeNaples, 11th March <strong>2006</strong>The INC Scientific & Government AffairsCommittee met on Naples to review the latestScientific <strong>and</strong> technical matters. The mostimportant topics of the meeting were thefollowing:The Green Corridor Pistachio activitiesThe INC position for the next 38th session ofthe Codex Committee on Food Additives <strong>and</strong>Contaminants, The Hague, April <strong>2006</strong>The results of the OTA Forum on that tookplace in January <strong>2006</strong>, in which it was discussed thesignificant developments that took place as regardsthe presence of OTA in foodstuffsThe latest notifications on the Rapid AlertSystem on FoodMontreal, 12th May <strong>2006</strong>The members of this Committee met in Montrealwithin the frame of the INC convention to discussabout the activities developed in the years2005/<strong>2006</strong> until that date <strong>and</strong> to plan the futurestrategies <strong>and</strong> actions to be taken.
