Certification ProgramsIntroductionEach year the University updates this list of successful graduates fromits Certification programs.The purpose of this list is to:♦ Identify those therapists who passed a clinical certification andhave remained current in continuing professional education♦ Assist with referrals within the physical therapy and medicalprofessions♦ Assist with the formation of study groups and networks♦ Recognize those who have reached standards of competencythrough our programsWe have long held that continuing education should be structuredtoward a meaningful goal. Thus, in 1981, when a group of therapistswho had completed the University’s (then the Institute of PhysicalTherapy’s) manual therapy seminars asked to be examined, thefaculty agreed and Certification began.Certification is designed to offer a series of seminars, whichculminate in a comprehensive examination consisting of written, oraland practical testing to define competency in a chosen field.Certification is an integral part of the process for acquiring either thePost-Professional Master of Health Science (MHSc) or thetransitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).Certification requires completion of the required seminars either as astructured continuing education process or as part of one of our postprofessionaldegree programs.
