PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT, CHANDIGARHe-<strong>Sampark</strong> <strong>Kiosk</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Sector</strong> – <strong>35</strong> <strong>is</strong> Oper<strong>at</strong>ional<strong>Chandigarh</strong>, <strong>April</strong> <strong>15</strong>: The Department of Inform<strong>at</strong>ion Technology,<strong>Chandigarh</strong> Admin<strong>is</strong>tr<strong>at</strong>ion has opened an e<strong>Sampark</strong> <strong>Kiosk</strong> in <strong>Sector</strong> <strong>35</strong>th<strong>at</strong> would oper<strong>at</strong>e as an extension of <strong>Sampark</strong> Centre in <strong>Sector</strong> 45. Withthe opening of e<strong>Sampark</strong> <strong>Kiosk</strong> in <strong>Sector</strong> <strong>35</strong>, Project <strong>Sampark</strong> -<strong>Chandigarh</strong> Admin<strong>is</strong>tr<strong>at</strong>ion’s award-winning project has made anothersignificant stride to carry forward its “multi service-single window” conceptto the residents of <strong>Chandigarh</strong>.Mrs. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary IT mentioned th<strong>at</strong> as of now the<strong>Kiosk</strong> would provide limited services but based on the response the l<strong>is</strong>t ofservices would be increased. She further informed th<strong>at</strong> the Department ofInform<strong>at</strong>ion Technology <strong>is</strong> working towards opening such more <strong>Kiosk</strong>s in<strong>Sector</strong>s those are yet not serviced by <strong>Sampark</strong> Centres.The e<strong>Sampark</strong> <strong>Kiosk</strong> will be manned by an oper<strong>at</strong>or who would beequipped with a laptop and an energy efficient printer. The <strong>Kiosk</strong> wouldopen from 9am to 6pm (Monday to S<strong>at</strong>urday) and would provide thefollowing services: Payment of Electricity and W<strong>at</strong>er Bills. Telephone bill payment (Mobile & Landline) Payment of taxes (VAT/CST). Tenant Reg<strong>is</strong>tr<strong>at</strong>ion Domestic Servants Reg<strong>is</strong>tr<strong>at</strong>ion Stamp Papers, Revenue &Adhesive StampsThe utility bill payments can be made <strong>at</strong> the <strong>Kiosk</strong> against chequesonly.Th<strong>is</strong> <strong>Kiosk</strong> has been set up to meet the demand ra<strong>is</strong>ed by theResident Welfare Associ<strong>at</strong>ion. Since the kiosk <strong>is</strong> loc<strong>at</strong>ed in the market itadds to the convenience of the residents. <strong>Sector</strong> 27 and <strong>Sector</strong> 38 wouldbe the next two <strong>Sector</strong>s to get similar <strong>Kiosk</strong>s.Project <strong>Sampark</strong> was launched in 2004 and in November 2012 a Wi-fienabled <strong>Sampark</strong> Centre was launched in <strong>Sector</strong> 21. At present<strong>Chandigarh</strong> has 26 <strong>Sampark</strong> Centres, 13 each in urban and rural areas of
<strong>Chandigarh</strong>. As per the Department of Inform<strong>at</strong>ion Technology, these<strong>Sampark</strong> Centres log around 2lakh transactions every month. It <strong>is</strong> worthmentioning th<strong>at</strong> <strong>Chandigarh</strong> Admin<strong>is</strong>tr<strong>at</strong>ion’s Project <strong>Sampark</strong> <strong>is</strong> ranked asone amongst the most successful public service delivery models prevalentin the country.
