Studies includealgorithms, investigation of robustness properties, convergence analysis,experiment design, and computational details for both parametric andnonparametric methods, including classical curve fitting problems. Otherresearch endeavors include identification of hybrid systems, distributed estimationproblems, and control and estimation over wireless sensor networks.Intern, Peloton Partners LLP, LondonPeloton Partners LLP is a global multi-strategy hedge fund based in London.My research concerned the development of mathematical methods fora data-driven assessment of the fund’s overall positions in the market. Morespecifically, these methods addressed issues such as risk allocation, portfoliodiversification, and fund replication, from a point of view obtained solelyfrom time series data. Developed software using R, Python, MySQL, andBloomberg to collect data, perform analysis, and generate reports on a dailybasis. Worked closely with others in a small team environment.Visiting Scholar, Politecnico di Torino, ItalyCollaborated with scholars at Politecnico di Torino and discussed future directionsof research in nonlinear system identification. Otherresearch endeavors include identification of hybrid systems, distributed estimationproblems, and control and estimation over wireless sensor networks.2003 - 2004 Software Enabled ControlTook part in the development and implementation of a receding horizoncontrol application programming interface for simulation and live flight testof an unmanned T-33 aircraft (DARPA Software Enabled Control Program).The project was a large-scale collaborative effort towards integrating advancesin the control of unmanned aerial vehicles.2
2002 - 2003 Model-Based Identification and ControlA small mechanical system with complex nonlinear dynamics was used formodel-based identification and control. Unknown system parameters had tobe identified from experimental data sets and used for control design. Thesystem was subsequently used for demonstration purposes in an undergraduatecourse on feedback systems.2001 - 2002 Tae Kwon Do Electronic Scoring SystemIn Tae Kwon Do tournaments, scores are traditionally kept by judges with penand paper. I designed and built a low-cost electronic scoring system/displayto be used at the 2002 World University Tae Kwon Do Championship heldin Berkeley, CA.2000 - 2002 Supermileage VehicleMember of the UC Berkeley Supermileage Vehicle (SMV) team. The SMVwas a one-passenger vehicle that was designed and built entirely by studentsat UC Berkeley. The goal was to extract the most mileage out of a givenone cylinder engine while conforming to various competition regulations. Ata national competition held in Michigan during the summer of 2002, the UCBerkeley team captured first place with a recorded mileage of over 1000 milesper gallon.2000 - 2001 Thermoplastic Encapsulation of Hard Disk Drive DC MotorsTested effects of various magnetization patterns and thermoplastic encapsulationof motor stator and coils in DC motors for high performance hard diskdrives.
