Decide who to appoint as your executor(s) i.e. thepeople who will administer your estate.A word on Inheritance TaxAll bequests to charity (including <strong>St</strong> Raphael’s) are exemptfrom Inheritance Tax.Following the calculation of the value of all your assets, yourlegal advisor can advise on the best way for you to divideyour estate, taking into account factors such as the variousindividuals/charities you wish to benefit and any tax implicationsfor your estate.It is always best to ask a legal adviserto draft your Will. He or she will know the correct form ofwords and can avoid ambiguities and misunderstandings.Your Will should set out the arrangements for distributingall of your estate including the residue, after yourdebts and any specific or pecuniary gifts have beenpaid. It should appoint between one and four people asexecutors. There are specific rules for the execution ofWills. It is very easy to execute a Will incorrectly andtherefore you should take advice from your legal adviseron the correct way to execute your Will.Adding to anexisting WillIf you wish to add to or alter your existing Will you can dothis by making a ‘codicil’. In order to do this you will needto contact your legal adviser.
