The sun is getting brighter and the summer vacation season is just around the 

corner, which means that activity in Sahl Hasheesh is picking up. It’s not just about 

the construction of beautiful homes, but also the development of a community

Bella at Premier Le Rêve 

Italian delicacies

Classic Italian cuisine is served in elegant settings at Bella, 

a restaurant that combines good taste and excellent service.

Rêve Hotel & Spa extend to its à la carte Italian restaurant 

�� 

patrons in style with a menu featuring many of the classic 

dishes that have earned their fame on the tables of Rome 

and beyond. 

Bella’s refined atmosphere is enhanced by mocha draperies 

and wood panels that provide a warm touch on the walls. 

A stylish silver sculpture representing graceful birds 

complements the modern silver and glass chandeliers that 

give a sophisticated feel to the locale. Opera music plays softly 

for a clientele composed mainly of couples. The dining room’s 

large bay windows overlook the pool and the Red Sea in the 

background, and diners can make the most of the spectacular 

view from the terrace that also accommodates smokers. 

We were welcomed with grissini presented with a selection of 

amuse-bouche consisting of sundried tomato, roasted garlic 

with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and black olive tapenade. 

The choice of breads included foccaccia, ciabatta, soft rolls, 

and dark wholemeal bread, which my dining companion 

couldn’t resist dipping in spicy olive oil flavored with chili and 

herbs. The menu allows diners to enjoy a succession of dishes 

in typical Italian fashion: soup or salad, followed by pasta or 

risotto, and then main course and dessert. Restaurant Manager 

Hafez Abdel Atty provided clear explanations about what was 

part of the four-course all inclusive program and which dishes 

were subject to extra charge—dinner patrons who are not inhouse 

guests receive a bill of fare with itemized prices. 

I started with beef carpaccio, which was sliced ultra-thinly as 

it should be and served with pesto sauce, lettuce, ruccola, 

and cheese shavings. My companion had a Caesar salad 

with grilled chicken and a creamy sauce that he found just 

perfect: tasty but not too heavy. The mushroom soup was also 

recommended, and classic minestrone, seafood soup, as well 

as an Italian cheese platter were also to be had.

We continued with a creamy seafood risotto made 

with long-grain rice, which was well seasoned and 

counted plenty of shrimp and calamari morsels.

Bella’s rendition of a tiramisu, which is not the 

traditional layered version but a thick and 

sweet cream cheese-based dessert presented 

in a glass with chunks of dry biscuit, failed 

to convince me, but my companion’s baked 

cheesecake served warm with fresh seasonal 

fruit—strawberries on that day—was cleaned up 

very quickly. 

Food portions are perfect to enjoy multiple-course

as we liked but not ending up overstuffed. Drinks 

selection includes imported aperitifs, wines from 

Egypt and France as well as French champagne 

by the bottle, and local house wine served by the 

glass. Service was prompt and attentive: we were 

asked if we were ready for the next course and 

whether we had enjoyed each dish. Our glasses

Dining at Bella doesn’t feel like eating at a 

hotel’s all inclusive outlet; on the contrary, we 

enjoyed the elegant atmosphere of this à la carte 

restaurant where attention is paid to detail and 

wait staff is knowledgeable about the offerings 

and eager to please.

With its grand opening just 

around the corner, the Tropitel 

Sahl Hasheesh is blossoming on 

the main hotel collection along 

the beach. The hotel belongs to 

the Tropitel Group, a local familyowned 

chain that has two other 

properties in Hurghada and 

Sharm el Sheikh. It boasts a total 

of 559 rooms and includes three 

restaurants, a spa, two swimming 

pools, and a full range of five-star 

services and amenities. To find 

out more about how the opening 

process has worked out and get 

an insider’s opinion of the resort, 

we sat with General Manager 

Yousry Ali. 

How did you come to work at Tropitel?

worked my way up to management. Over time, I have worked 

for a number of international brands including the Hyatt, Swiss, 

Movenpick, and Radisson chains around Egypt. I eventually 

chose to come to Tropitel because this is a family-based 

company, and when you go behind the scenes, you can tell 

the difference. You have the attention to detail, and dedication 

from every single person, feeling that they have a duty to make 

everything work out well for the enjoyment of the guests. 

What sets Tropitel apart from others in the area? 

For me it all comes down to the quality of the staff. Here, I think

have worked for other international brands, including myself. 

This means that everyone is really well-trained and knows what 

it is to deal with the highest standards of hotel service. 

As an alternative way of checking our service, I also like to 

look on the internet and see what people are saying about the

comment cards when they are here but many times they say 

something very different when they leave. If we listen to these 

concerns and do our best to adjust them when possible, we 

can work to become even better. 

What has been your experience with the hotel since the 

soft opening in October? 

Since the soft opening, we have opened the spa, children’s 

playground, all restaurants, and the swimming pools. All of 

these openings have been gradual, and we are set for the

services are also in their startup phases, and in the last three 

months I believe that we have been slowly working our way up 

the rankings in comparison with other hotels in the region and

How do you see the future of Sahl 

Hasheesh? 

Sahl Hasheesh is a place that has a really 

bright future, and it just needs time to grow. 

You feel that everything here is working 

according to a master plan, and that there is 

not the same kind of haphazard development 

that you see elsewhere. We also hear all the 

time about the long list of services that are 

planned for the town and how this is not just 

going to be a group of hotels, and feel that 

this expresses a kind of vision for the future, 

which is necessary especially in tough times. 

Ultimately, all of the groundwork is set and 

the infrastructure is there, and with the variety 

available I think that in the next few years you 

are going to see some great surprises as Sahl 

Hasheesh becomes one of the main tourism 

destinations in the region.

accepted. Throughout the process, I bought an apartment 

of my own as well as sold apartments to a number of friends 

from Germany and England. I have lived in my apartment

What do you think of the development as a whole? 

Sahl Hasheesh has the whole potential to become a 

world-leading resort. However, the current situation in the 

country makes things seem very unstable and it’s going 

to take a whole lot of work and investors putting in money

secure political system and the economy returns to stability, 

things will get better much quicker.

Why did you choose to come to Sahl Hasheesh? 

We are all friends from school in Alexandria, and we decided to take a vacation 

together as a group and we will be joined by our parents a few days later. 

We asked around, and all of our other friends and relatives said that Sahl 

Hasheesh was one of the best places to go, and so here we are. I think that it 

was a good decision. 

How have you enjoyed your stay? 

It has been a lot of fun so far, as there are a lot of activities in the hotel . The 

only real problem is when you want to get out, there still isn’t a whole lot to do in 

the town and you have to go to Hurghada, but we think that in the future it will 

get better as it looks like there is a lot of work going on to improve the location. 

The other thing we have noticed is that the employees here are really welltrained. 

No matter where you go, they seem to be very helpful and know 

everything that’s going on in the hotel and the town as a whole. 

What has been the best part of your stay? Would you recommend 

Sahl Hasheesh to your friends?

After everything we have experienced here it’s easy to say that Sahl Hasheesh

One of the keys to the creation of any successful 

town is in providing variety and diversity. 

It’s the different nationalities and tastes of residents and guests, 

compilations of apartment, villa, and hotel styles, and range of activities 

and services that bring in life, turning a simple group of compounds into 

a thriving lifestyle destination. At Sahl Hasheesh, each neighborhood 

is designed to offer something unique, completing the picture of a 

beautiful town on the Red Sea coast. 

In the style of a traditional Middle Eastern town center set on a hill, 

Azzura stands proudly overlooking the sea and is famous for its

Welcoming Azzurra 

Azzurra Sahl Hasheesh opens with a week of celebrations

With the last bricks laid in September, Azzurra completed its first phase and became one of the newest neighborhoods 

to join the Sahl Hasheesh family. Eager to introduce their project to the town and investors, developers Prime Estates 

International and their Italy-based partner Ellebiemme (LBM) organized a complete week-long program in October, 

inviting some 250 partners from Sahl Hasheesh and the rest of Egypt, with a number of special guests from abroad. 

The festivities started just after 9pm on the 29th of October, 

with a big screen showing of a professional football game 

in the Azzurra restaurant at the heart of the development. 

The match, between Italian football clubs Inter Milano and 

Juventus FC, was said to be super-exciting and fun by those 

attending, and the game was complimented by a wide variety 

�� 

of excitement with each goal scored. The winners, the Turin 

based Juventus F.C., were cheered on eagerly by one of their 

devoted fans, renowned journalist and football commentator

cool winds blew, the entertainment went long into the night as guests

When not attending the various events around town, guests had the 

freedom to experience life in Sahl Hasheesh as regular visitors. Quiet 

days on the smooth sands of the Sahl Hasheesh beachfront or around 

the main pool of Azzurra were a great way for many to relax. Other 

visitors also took the opportunity to visit one of the many spas in town or 

receive pool-side massages from the trained specialists. The Old Town, 

with its world class restaurants, great shopping, hip clubs and wide 

shore-side boulevards was also a popular place to visit and glimpse the 

smooth chic atmosphere of the town. 

The more active guests got the chance to explore some of the other 

attractions available at Sahl Hasheesh. A boating trip to Orange Bay 

Island was arranged, allowing guests to experience the beauty of the 

surrounding Red Sea. Some also explored beneath the waves as well, 

glimpsing into the area’s diverse marine life on snorkeling and diving 

trips in the Sahl Hasheesh Bay.

Of course, as part of testing out the experience, 

my traveling partner and I were invited to try out 

riding for ourselves. Although I decidedly wore 

my cowboy attitude on my shoulder, bragging 

that surely simply being from Texas would be 

enough and that riding was deeply engrained 

in my blood, I was quickly surprised at how little 

I knew. The trainer we were paired with quickly 

took me to the side, giving me a few pointers and 

saying “The other person you are with is a much 

better rider than you.” “Of course,” I responded, 

“I’m just rusty.” The rust, it seemed, didn’t come 

off so easily. 

The trail we took was a quick circle around the 

outer edges of the desert, into areas that are set 

to be future developments in Sahl Hasheesh. It 

started with a small walking trail and eventually 

led down to a smooth sand valley, where we 

were able to get up to a gallop before heading 

back up and towards the stables. I asked what 

would happen when the construction starts and 

this trail becomes unusable. “Once things start 

to get built,” said our trainer and guide, “we will 

move out towards the mountains outside of the 

development or along the coastline. These are 

longer trips and require more preparation, but 

are much more beautiful and worth the effort.” 

In general, the stables are open year-round and 

both Arabian and local horses are available for 

riders of all experience levels. Special tours 

can be arranged for sunrise or sunset, but it 

is recommended that you call ahead to make 

sure that there is an open guide and horses. 

For residents or long-term guests, there are also 

special jumping training classes available, as 

well as riding lessons for children. 

The Sea Horse and Camel Riding Club is a 

perfect place to add something extra to your 

beach vacation, and can be an exhilarating ride 

that is not only an interesting activity, but will 

also get you acquainted with the beauty of the
