Among themajor topics taught are the Basics of the Film Medium, Cinemaas an Art, Film History, Film Theory, Relationship of Cinemawith Other Arts and so on. The Archive also co-ordinates shorttermcourses on similar lines in collaboration with educationalinstitutions and cultural organizations outside Pune.A large number of scholars and researchers on Cinema fromwithin the country and abroad look forward to NFAI as a majorresource Centre where they have easy access to the largestrepository of Indian Cinema and perhaps the best Library ofbooks on Cinema and related arts in the country. Located at Kolkata and named after thelegendary film maestro Satyajit Ray, SRFTI is the second nationallevel training Institute to be established by the Government ofIndia. The Institute offers three-year post-graduate diplomacourses in Direction & Screenplay Writing, Motion PicturePhotography, Editing and Sound Recording. Apart from the basicdiploma courses, the Instituted also has the provision to conductshort and medium term courses on subjects related to film andtelevision. Research and explorative studies in the sociology,culture and technology of film and television are other areas offocus in SRFTI. The Institute is fully equipped with state-of theart equipment needed to run the courses.
