SYNOPSISORE KADAL(The Sea within)35mm/colour/Malayalam/123 minutes/ESTIn Ore Kadal (The Sea Within), Shyamaprasad's latest film,he continues to explore the intricacies of human relationships,once again employing an evocative style and imagery thattranscend realism, whose delicate nuances and minimalism havebeen likened to chamber music. As the affair grows in passion and intensity,Deepti's mounting sense of guilt pushes her towards mentalinstability. Her husband and children are caught unawares in heremotional conflict and her return to sanity only adds to herinner torment. He defies everyone and gets his niece Ammayi,a child widow, remarried. In spite of hailing from a rich familyhe marries Nagammai, a poor relative whom he likes. He exposesa fake priest for which he gets beaten with slippers by his furiousfather. Dejected, he leaves for Benares.In Benares, his experience is no better. Even in monasteries,food is served only for the upper- caste people. Once he isdriven to eat from a dust bin.
