And I continue to workceaselessly to deserve this trust. My aim isto keep my country’s flag flying high.”Sema Acartürk is an athlete who started in athletics with thejavelin. Since becoming a national athlete, she now performs inweight lifting. As Sakarya Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Club’sfirst weight lifting athlete, Sema Acartürk has succeeded in beinga five-time champion for Turkey.Sema Acartürk was born in 1993 in Sakarya. Continuing hereducation in Sakarya University, Sport Management Department,Sema started sports with athletics. Becoming a national athletein athletics, Sema then decided to start weight lifting with theencouragement of her trainers and her belief that the weightlifting was more suitable for her. Noticing the discipline of Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> athletes competing in other sports activities in Sakarya,Sema believed that she also should become a Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>athlete. Meeting with the Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Clubmanager two years ago, Sema stated that she would like to carryon her sporting life as woman weight lifter. Leading the launchof the weight lifting branch in Sakarya, Sema became one ofthe first weight lifting athletes of the Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> AmateurSports Club. As a champion many times for Turkey, Sema rankedninth among the world’s famous women weight lifters despiteher injury at the World Weight Lifting Championship held inGuatemala.Her biggest dream is to successfully represent Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>in the international arena. Her goal is to become Europeanand World Champion and then represent Turkey in the 2016Olympics.Furkan Şener - 18Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Club Sivas Athlete“Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> supported me and thus I lovesport much more.”Furkan Şener was born in 1995 in Sivas. Receiving primaryand secondary education there, Furkan currently preparesfor university. Dealing with Wushu sport since 2003, Furkanobserved that Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Club wassupporting thousands of athletes, and by following his trainer’sadvice he meet with Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Club in 2006.Furkan achieved many successes such as ranking second in the2010 Stars of Europe Championship, eight-time Champion ofTurkey, 2012 Europe Junior’s Second and 2012 World Junior’sSecond and World’s Third.ŞEYMA Urhan - 18Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports Club Sivas Athlete“The most important reason to choose Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> was its attention to Wushu-KungFu.”Şeyma Urhan is 18 years old. She is a high school senior at SultanMurat College. She loves Wushu-Kung Fu sport very much.Şeyma says that she chose Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> because it supportsTurkish sports and athletes, cares for Wushu sport, and is oneof the most important brands in Turkey. Having competed inmany championships in Turkey, Şeyma achieved the followingsuccesses: 2004 Europe’s Third, 2006 World’s Seventh, 2008Europe’s Fifth, 2009 World’s Seventeenth, 2010 Europe’sSecond, 2011 World’s Ninth and 2012 Europe’s Third. Şeyma’schampionship wins include 2007 and 2010 Europe Championand, most recently, 2013 World Champion.Aycan Nur - 15 Years old Trabzon- Sürmene Student ofTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime High School“I gained experience thanks to my school,and I have furthered my interests invessels and shipping.”Studying at Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime HighSchool and being one of only five female students out of a totalof 500 students, Aycan Nur is a high school sophomore. She is 15years old and has stated that she chose Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> AnatolianVocational Maritime High School since she liked the uniform of theschool, and her dad supported her in this regard. Indicating thatthe school is vital for having a good occupation, Aycan says thatshe likes listening to music, surfing the Internet, reading booksand travelling. She wants to be a graphic designer in the future.Asena Elifnaz Yavuzyılmaz - 16 Years old Trabzon- SürmeneStudent of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime High School“Maritime School has changed my view ofpeople and life. I believe that my school,which has raised my dreams and improvedmy ambition to learn, will provide asignificant contribution for my successfulcareer in the future.”Born in Trabzon and currently living in the center of Sürmene,Asena Elifnaz Yavuzyılmaz is a high school junior. Indicating thather sense of wonder had a significant impact for choosing MaritimeSchool, Elifnaz states that she loves seaside cities and longs tovisit cities with greens and blues. Stating that, “Even if our schoolprovides the advantage of a 2-year college, my dreams are basedupon university,” Elifnaz says that the most important advantageof Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime High School ismeasuring the skills of students and guiding them in line with theirtalents. Stating that she has wanted to be a pediatrician sinceshe was little, Elifnaz says that her dreams have changed sinceattending the school and now she wants to become an engineer.Indicating that she likes travelling, photography, painting, listeningmusic and dreaming very much, Elifnaz longs to travel to the UK,France, Italy, Brazil, South Korea and the US as well as to manyplaces in Turkey.Serap Buse Kalyoncu - 16 Years oldTrabzon - Sürmene Student of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> AnatolianVocational Maritime High School“Girl students in a maritime school astonishpeople, but I believe that my school will helpme very much in the field of engineering,which is may target occupation.”Living in Sürmene, Trabzon, Serap Buse Kalyoncu is a juniorin high school. She says that she chose this school since therewere people in her family in maritime occupations and shehas been interested in maritime since her childhood. Desiringto become an engineer, Serap Buse believes that her schoolwill provide significant advantage for her career in the future.Planning to live in a city where business opportunities are muchhigher, Serap Buse says she wants to travel to Bodrum, Izmir,and Istanbul within Turkey, as well as to other countries such asKorea, the US and Austria.Yaren Çağla Gönül - 15 Years old Trabzon - Sürmene Student ofTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime High School“Even the word ‘maritime’ has a differentsense. Also our school and its uniformsexcite me very much. If I become anengineer and set up my own office, I reallywould like to have my ship built up.”Living in Trabzon, Yaren Çağla Gönül is a sophomore in highschool. Stating that she really likes the uniform of the school,Yaren says that becoming a ship engineer requires a lot of effort,and her school raises her awareness in this regard. Indicatingthat she had decided to become an engineer, Yaren thinks thather school is also import in terms of the university she willchoose. Enjoying playing the guitar, reading books, walkingaround with her friends and ice skating, Yaren longs to travelthroughout Turkey and to visit Paris, New York and Jamaica –even if she doesn’t become a sea captain.Gamze Dilber - 16 Years old Trabzon - Sürmene Student of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Anatolian Vocational Maritime High School“Maritime School has taught me to see life from the viewpoint of a mariner.”Born and raised in Trabzon, Gamze Dilber is a high school junior. Stating that, “It is a really nice feeling to attract the attention ofpeople outside the school while walking around wearing the school uniform,” Gamze says that the main reason she chose the schoolwas its guidance and leadership on deciding on a profession. Stating that, “If I become an engineer, I would like to design a yacht formyself and have it built and then travel the world with that yacht,” Gamze longs to visit Çanakkale in Turkey as well as Germany andFrance in Europe.
