Corporate Social ResponsibilityTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> contributes to community life through the“Value to Turkey” social responsibility projects realizedthroughout the country in addition to the investmentsmade in communication and convergence technologies.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>, Turkey’s leading company incommunication and convergence technologies,adds value to social life with “Value To Turkey” socialresponsibility projects implemented throughout thecountry, in addition to the investments on technology,infrastructure and human resources.In addition to giant social responsibility projects carriedout nationally such as Books on the Phone, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>Schools, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Internet Houses, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>Sports Clubs and e-Billing Forests, there are also morethan 100 local social responsibility activities organized byTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> provincial directorates within the scope of“Value To Turkey” project. Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> received morethan 80 national and international awards during the lastthree years with the social responsibility projects it hasimplemented.Value to TurkeyTürk <strong>Telekom</strong>, together with over 24,000 Value toTurkey volunteers, continues to generate projects whichadd value to comunity life. Value to Turkey volunteersparticipate in many activities from blood donation towaste medicine collection campaign, from search andrescue team to amateur sports clubs, and from voluntarilybook reading in Books on the Phone Project to toycollection. Value to Turkey volunteers have donated 3,200units of blood and collected 4,000 boxes of medicinethrough the campaigns carried out across Turkey.Books on the PhoneTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> continues to offer product and serviceoptions to facilitate the lives of disabled customers withthe principle of enabling the entire society to participatein life on equal terms by taking advantage of the facilitiesof communications technologies. Launched at the endof 2011 within this framework, Books on the Phonebecame further widespread in 2012. Through this project,in which Turkey’s first telephone library was broughtto life, visually impaired Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> customers areoffered 350 audio books all across Turkey. Within thescope of the project, the launched special lines receivedover 220,000 calls while over 2 million minutes of booklistening was realized.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> SchoolsTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> has constructed educational facilities allaround Turkey through Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Schools project.The project was implemented by the Ministry of NationalEducation, the Ministry of Transport, and MaritimeAffairs and Communications and involves 76 educationalbuildings.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> began to offer scholarships all acrossTurkey beginning with the 2011-2012 academic year.Successful students, who must be attending a Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> School and come from low-income families,can benefit from scholarship opportunities. Within thisframework, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> provided a total of TL 211,200in scholarships to 138 successful students in the 2011-2012academic year.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> supports Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Schools, one of thelargest social responsibility projects involving educationin Turkey. The company has donated to the schoolsnearly 6,624 pieces of sports equipment valued at TL226,368. Encouraging students by supplying sportsequipment such as track suits, sports bags, footballs,basketballs and volleyballs, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> aims tocontribute to the development of students in the field ofsports.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Amateur Sports ClubsIn order to help Turkish youth improve theircommunications skills via sport, Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> has trainedmore than 30,000 young athletes over 10 years with theinvestments it has made in sports infrastructure. Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> still supports more than 4,000 athletes in 27branches, from basketball to fencing, and from athleticsto ski and tennis in 40 cities. Among these athletes,there are hundreds of youth elected for the nationalteam, representing Turkey internationally and becominga source of pride with various rankings in internationalcompetitions.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Search and Rescue TeamAll members of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Search & Rescue Team(TTSRT) are Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> employees who take chargein any natural disaster, accident or other crisis to shareinformation with other civil rescue teams. In 2011, TTSRTvolunteers reached Van during the first hours of theearthquake and rescued a person from the wreckageafter a 32-hour operation. The same team contributedto relief works for five days after a hotel collapsed whenanother earthquake struck.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> SponsorshipsTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> Group aims to carry out sponsorshipsthat bring benefits to society, and the company alsoseeks to support the development of individuals andsociety within the framework of corporate culture in linewith its communications strategies.Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> sponsors many sectoral, cultural and socialprojects. Among these sponsorships, “CeBIT SynergySummit,” “TRT 34 th International 23 rd April ChildrenFestival” and “Speaking Book Festival” have becomeprominent.CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia – CeBIT Synergy SummitEurasia’s number one information, technology andcommunications platform, CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia bringstogether IT companies within Eurasia as well as allvertical sector companies, public institutions and mediaorganizations using IT in their business.The CeBIT Synergy Summit 2012 attracted 143,728visitors, 1,071 exhibition participants and sponsorcompanies, participants from 23 countries, visitors from93 countries. A total of 4,770 summit participants tookpart in the event which featured Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> as themain sponsor, a distinguishing honor the company hasearned three times previously.In the summit, products from Avea, TTNET and Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> were exhibited while a separate area wascreated with the “Biz” concept in the lounge area.Furthermore, in the hall exclusively used for Türk<strong>Telekom</strong>, presentations which drew intense interest ofsummit participants were organized in conjunction withcollaborator companies over the course of three daysunder the name of “BuluTT Days.”TRT 34 th International 23 rd April Children’s FestivalTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> became the main sponsor of 34 thInternational 23 rd April Children’s Festival for the fifthtime. The festival took place in Konya in 2012 with theparticipation of children from Konya and all around theworld. The garden of the Mevlana Culture Center wastransformed into a game and living space and presentedto visitors with a “Children’s Concept” over the course of10 days.Speaking Book FestivalThe Fifth Speaking Book Festival organized within thescope of the “Turkey is reading” project and under theauspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkeytook place in Izmir.
