Board of DirectorsMohammed Hariri Chairman of Board of Directors(1958) Mohammed Hariri is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OgerTelecom Limited. He also serves as the Chairman of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>ünikasyonA. Ş, TTNET and Avea İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş. in Turkey. Hariri is also the ViceChairman-Finance & Investment- of Saudi Oger Limited and has been a memberof the Company’s management for over 30 years. He is the Chairman of GroupMed S.A.L. (Holding), Bank Med S.A.L. and its subsidiaries in Beirut and Geneva,Saudi Med Investment Company and Al Mal Investment Holding. He is a boardmember of Arab Bank plc-Jordan and serves on the Boards of Directors ofvarious companies of the Saudi Oger Group, including 3C Telecommunications(PTY) Ltd in South Africa, Ojer <strong>Telekom</strong>ünikasyon A.Ş. in Turkey, OgerInternational S.A. and Entreprise de Travaux Internationaux (ETI) in France. Haririis a member of the Board of Directors of Associations des Banques du Liban. Heis a member of the advisory Board of Deutsche Bank PWM Middle East and Africa.Elected as a member of the Board of Directors of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> in November2005, Hariri served as the Chairman of the Audit Committee between June 2008and April 2009, and has been serving as the Chairman of the Board since April2008,as the Chairman of the Executive Committee since April 2009 and as amember of Corporate Governance Committee since October 17, 2012.İbrahim Şahin Independent Board Member/Vice Chairman of Board ofDirectors (Independent Board Member)(1962) Mr. Ibrahim Şahin was born in 1962. After graduating from AnkaraUniversity Faculty of Law, İbrahim Şahin served in various positions at theInternal Affairs Ministry and worked as an advisor and undersecretary at theMinistry of Transportation and as PTT General Manager. Şahin was a memberof the Statutory Audit Board of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> between December 31, 2002 andJune 1, 2007. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of since June1, 2007 and Vice Chairman of Executive Committee since April 9, 2009. Şahin hasbeen the General Manager of TRT since November 21, 2007. He has been servingas an Audit Committee member since October 17, 2012 that held this positionbetween June 16, 2008 and April 9, 2009.Hakam Kanafani Member of Board of Directors(1965) Kanafani is Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Group’s CEO and member of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>’sBoard of Directors and Executive Committee. He serves on the boards ofTürk <strong>Telekom</strong> Group’s broadband communications unit “TTNET” and mobilecommunications unit “AVEA”; and also as Chairman of the Board of Directorsfor Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Group subsidiaries: Pantel International Group, Argela,AssisTT, Innova and Sebit. Before that he was the Chief Business Developmentand Synergy Officer for Oger Telecom. Previously he was the CEO of JAWWAL,Palestine’s first private cellular network. Kanafani started his career at NASA,Goddard Space flight center. Kanafani is a University Trustee Scholar and holdsBeta Gamma Sigma honors from the USA. He graduated from the University ofMaryland, College Park. He was a founding member of Young Global Leadersand Young Arab Leader. He represents Türk <strong>Telekom</strong> Group on the Board of theDirectors of GSMA, ETNO and SAMENA. Kanafani is in GTB’s Power100 list forTelco executives worldwide and named Best CEO for <strong>Investor</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> in Turkeyin 2012.Maziad Al-Harbi Member of Board of Directors(1970) Al-Harbi is presently the VP of the Home Business Unit where he workedfor more than five years. Before joining STC in 2007 on Huawei Technologiesand Lucent Technologies, Mr. Al-Harbi worked for seventeen years across thetelecommunications, media, and technology industries. Since 2007 he has heldleading roles with diverse responsibilities at Saudi Telecom Company (STC).He is also a board member of Call Center Company and SaleCo in Saudi Arabia.He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from King SaudUniversity.Abdullah Tivnikli Member of Board of Directors(1959)After earning his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul TechnicalUniversity, Abdullah Tivnikli completed an MBA at the same university. Followingan invitation by the public authority involved in participation banking to developthe legal infrastructure for Turkey’s participation banking model in Turkey, heactively took part in the establishment of Albaraka Türk Participation Bank. Hehas been a member and subsequently the vice chairman of the Board of Directorsof Kuveyt Türk Participation Bank since 1989. He is presently executive directorof Eksim Group. Tivnikli has been serving as a Board Member of Türk <strong>Telekom</strong>and member of the Executive Committee. Tivnikli is also a Board Member at Türk<strong>Telekom</strong> Group companies, TTNET and Avea, and he is the Vice Chairman of theboard of directors of Argela, AssisTT, Innova and Sebit.Rami Aslan Member of Board of Directors(1972) Mr. Aslan serves currently as Chief Executive Officer and executivemember of the Board of Directors of Oger Telecom Ltd. He is also Senior Advisorto the Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Hariri, on the telecom activities of Saudi OgerGroup. Previously, Mr. Aslan assisted Saudi Oger Group in establishing the Ogertelecom business since 2005. He was a key member of the team that establishedthe equity/debt capital structure of the company through bringing equity anddebt participants together in the Telecom investments of the group. Mr. Aslanalso has since managed the relationships with the Company’s various investorsand lending groups. In addition to being a member of the Board of Turk <strong>Telekom</strong>and Oger Telecom Ltd., Mr. Aslan also sits on other boards including İnnova,Sebit Eğitim, Cell C (Pty) Limited and 3C Telecommunications Pty Limited inSouth Africa. Mr. Aslan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management InformationSystems and Finance and an MBA degree from McGill University, Canada. Priorto joining the Oger Group in 2005, Mr. Aslan worked for over 12 years in NorthAmerica, Europe and the Middle East with MetLife where he started his career,later with TD Bank Financial Group, and most recently with Citigroup.30TÜRK TELEKOM ANNUAL REPORT 2012
