Peter ZawotDear Parents, Alumni and Benefactors,Happy “New Year”! Even with twoextra weeks, the summer seemed to flyby. On behalf of all of us at TrinityCatholic, I extend a warm welcome toour new families. We are happy to joinwith you in providing a first class valuecentered education for your children.Along with our new families, wewelcome five new faculty members inthe areas of guidance, religion, English, math and science. There presence bringsthe number of our dedicatedprofessional faculty up to forty-seven.While the total enrollment in Catholicschools in the Diocese had fallenslightly, we can boast of a slightincrease in enrollment with a waitinglist for the freshmen class. Our currentenrollment is 556. I recently receivedscore reports from the SAT and ACTand am pleased to pass on to you thatour students again have scored abovethe state and national average. We’vehad a visit from some of last year’sgraduates who are happy to tell us thattheir years here prepared them well forcollege. Thank you, alumni parents, forentrusting them to us.In an effort to maintain better contactwith parents, we have introduced PowerSchool, a web based data system whichwill allow parents access to theirstudents’ grades and assignments. Likeanything new, we need to give ourteachers a chance to learn the systemand achieve a reasonable comfort levelwith it. Parents and students willeventually be provided with a pass codein order to access the system fromhome. It is our hope to be able to initiatethis system for the second markingperiod. With every school year comes theopportunity for involvement fromparents, alumni and benefactors. OurDevelopment Director, Mrs. LorieNightingale, has a number of eventsplanned to engage all of our supportersin developing school spirit and inbuilding a strong foundation for thefuture. Please support these by yourprayers and your active participation. As I’ve said before, I am humbled andprivileged to be able to work with sucha talented and dedicated group ofcolleagues, parents and students. September 2007Dean’s Office ReportMrs. Jacqueyn GehrsitzI hope that everyone has had a goodbeginning of school. I would like toreview a few policies for the parents andstudents. It is extremely important thatthe students keep their hall and PElockers locked. This will help to keepeveryone honest and prevent thefts.I know there have been some problemswith back orders at the uniform store, but our young ladies need to be sure thattheir skorts or shorts are not more thantwo inches above their knee. Most ofthe skorts have a one inch hem that canbe taken down if it needs to belengthened. If your son or daughter is driving toschool they need to purchase a parkingpermit from Mr. Carney. Cars will beticketed if no permit has beenpurchased. The school parking lot is locked at10:00 p.m. or as soon as an event hascleared out if it runs over 10:00 p.m.The security guard is not supposed toopen the gates for students who leavecampus with friends and then returnlater for the cars. It is imperative thatyour son or daughter leave the campuspromptly after an event in their vehicle. If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to contact my office at 622-9025 ext. 1111 or email me atjgehrsitz@tchs.us.Thanks and God Bless. Mrs. G.Development OfficeMrs. Lorie NightingaleGreetings from the DevelopmentOffice! I hope everyone had time torelax and regroup over the summer.Being a parent of a high school and amiddle school student, I realize howbusy every parent is and howpocketbooks can be challenged.Keeping your financial and timeconcerns in mind, we are workingdiligently to reduce the number offundraising events, increase theprofitability of the ones we have, andstill meet our budget needs. I stronglybelieve that if we have greaterparticipation in events, we will meet ourgoals. The profits from the events you willread about at the end of this article areused to pay teacher salaries, purchasetextbooks and teaching materials, keep up with replacement cost for ourtechnology, and provide studentassistance for those families whoqualify for financial aid. It costs over$9,000 to educate each student atTCHS. The fundraising events we have, make up for the difference betweenwhat is paid for education and theactual cost.My challenge to all families this year isto GET INVOLVED! It costs yourfamily NOTHING to make phone calls, sell raffle tickets a few hours on aweekend, organize a team for the golftournament, or find a sponsor for a holesign. It might be out of your “comfortrange” to ask, but isn’t that what we areasked to do as Christians- to step out ofour comfort range for something webelieve in?You will be receiving letters and calls tohelp out this year. Please respondpositively and give it a try. I can bereached at lmnight@yahoo.com or atschool ext. 1114.Events for 2007-2008Sally FosterThe Sally Foster Kickoff took place onSeptember 4 th . Learning another language ischallenging, but offers many rewards. In addition to learning to read, write, and speak the language, we will studythe culture and literature that haveinfluenced it.It is important to remember thatlearning a language requires hard workover time. Students will be expected to:• do all assignments thoroughlyand carefully,• pay attention and stay focusedin class,• come to class preparedPlease feel free to e-mail me atkhauck@tchs.us if you have anyquestions or want to discuss your son’sor daughter’s progress.
