8.4.3 Reset to factory setting [243]In this menu all parameters can be reset to the default values. This includes all four parameter sets and the commonparameters except for parameter [202] (enable US units). AsEnable US units is not reset to default, the values loaded forthe normal motor data in menus [210] to [215] correspondto the chosen units (SI or US customary), see description ofmenu [202] on page 45 for more information. The alarmlist, the power consumption and the operation time will notbe affected by resetting the parameters. When the reset of allparameters to the factory default values has been executedsuccessfully, menu [100] is shown on the display.2 4 3Default:Range:noYESnonono, YESNo actionReset to factory settingsMulti SettingReset all parameters to the factory defaultvalues.NOTE: Reset to factory settings is not allowed when thesoftstarter is running.8.5 Auto resetFor several non-critical application-related failure conditions,it is possible to automatically generate a reset and initiatea restart to overcome the fault condition. Auto resetfunctionality is configured using the following parameters:[250] Auto reset attempts.[251] to [263] Auto reset items. In menu [250] the maximum number of automatically generatedrestarts allowed can be set. When this number isexceeded and a new fault occurs, the softstarter will stay infault condition because external assistance is required. Inmenus [251] to [263], auto reset is enabled for the differentprotection types by choosing a delay time. If a fault occursfor which auto reset is enabled, the motor is stopped accordingto the action chosen for the relevant protection method(see menus [220] to [231] and [400] to [440] for descriptionof protection methods and configuration of actions on failures). When the fault has disappeared, and the configureddelay time has elapsed, the motor is restarted.Example:The motor is protected by internal thermal protection. When a thermal protection alarm occurs, the softstartershould wait until the motor is cooled down enough beforeresuming normal operation. When this problem occurs severaltimes in a short period of time, external assistance isrequired. The following settings should be applied:• Activate thermal motor protection, e.g. set parameter[220] to 2 (Coast).• Activate internal thermal motor protection, e.g. setparameter [222] to 10 (thermal curve for 10 s).• Insert maximum number of restarts: e.g. set parameter[250] to 3.• Activate thermal motor protection to be automaticallyreset: e.g. set parameter [251] to 100.• Configure one of the relays to give an alarm when externalassistance is required: e.g. set parameter [532] to 19(all alarms which need manual reset). The Auto reset functionality is not available if control panelis chosen as control source in menu [220].WARNING: A flashing start/stop LEDindicates standby mode e.g. waiting for autoreset. The motor may be startedautomatically at a moment’s notice.NOTE: The auto reset cycle will be interrupted when astop signal is given (remote or via serial communication)or if the control source is changed to control panel inmenu [200].8.5.1 Auto reset attempts [250]In this menu the maximum allowed number of automaticallygenerated restart attempts is set. If any number of autoreset attempts is selected in this menu the Auto reset functionalityis activated and menus [251] to [263] will becomeavailable. If an alarm occurs for which auto reset is enabled(in menus [251] to [263]), the motor will automatically berestarted when the fault has disappeared and the delay timehas expired. For each automatically generated restart, theinternal auto reset counter (not visible) will go up one place. If no alarm occurs for more than 10 minutes, the auto resetcounter will be decreased by one. When the maximumnumber of auto reset attempts is reached, no further restartwill be allowed and the softstarter will remain in fault condition. In this case a manual reset (either via control panel, remote or serial communication, see description on page 39)is needed.Example:• Auto reset attempts (parameter [250]=5)• Within 10 minutes 6 alarms occur.• At the 6th trip there is no auto reset, because the autoreset counter contains already 5 auto reset attempts.• To reset, apply a normal reset. This will also reset theauto reset counter.52 Functional description Emotron AB 01-4135-01r2
