To use the PTC functionality, connectthe PTC to terminals 69 and 70. See fig. 53. If the motorgets too warm (PTC resistance above 2.4 kOhm), an F2alarm will occur. The alarm will remain active until themotor has cooled down (PTC resistance below 2.2 kOhm).2 2 1Default:Range:oFFono F FPTC inputoFFoFF, onMotor PTC input is disabled.Motor PTC input is enabled.SettingNOTE: Open terminals will give an F2 alarm immediately.Make sure the PTC is always connected or the terminalsare shorted.NOTE: Check that the motor current is configuredproperly in menu [211].NOTE: If an external bypass contactor is used, checkthat the current transformers are placed and connectedcorrectly.CAUTION: Used thermal capacity is set to 0 ifthe control board loses its supply (terminal 01!and 02). This means that the internal thermalmodel starts with a “cold” motor, whichperhaps in reality is not the case. This means that themotor can be overheated.Used thermal capacity [223]This menu is available if thermal motor protection is activatedin menu [220] and an internal protection class is chosenin menu [222]. The menu shows the thermal capacity ofthe motor according to the thermal curve chosen in menu[222].2 2 3Read-outInternal protection class [222]This menu is available if thermal motor protection is enabledin menu [220]. In this menu an internal protectionclass can be chosen, which enables internal thermal motorprotection. With this setting a thermal curve as set out inFig. 34 is configured. The motor’s thermal capacity is calculatedcontinuously based on the chosen curve. If the thermalcapacity exceeds 100% an F2 alarm occurs and the actionchosen in menu [220] is performed. The alarm remainsactive until the motor model cools down to 95% of its thermalcapacity. The used thermal capacity is shown in menu[223].0Range: 0-150%Used thermal capacityEmotron AB 01-4135-01r2 Functional description 47
