If the machine orapplication is not in this list, try to identify a similarmachine or application. If in doubt please contact your supplier.The second and third columns gives typical ratings forthe machine or application. The ratings are divided in Normal/Normalwith by-pass and Heavy duty.ExampleThe application is a Roller Mill. From the Applications RatingList a Roller Mill is rated as a Heavy duty applicationdue to high starting current. The proper size of <strong>MSF</strong> <strong>2.0</strong> hasto be selected from the Heavy rating column, see Technicaldata.6.3 The Applications RatingListAccording to the norms AC53a and AC53b a softstarter canhave many current ratings.With help of the Applications Rating List the correct ratingcan be chosen for most applications.The Applications Rating List uses two levels for the AC53anorm and one level for the AC53b norm:AC53a 5.0-30:50-10 (heavy)This level will be able to start almost all applications and followsdirectly the type number of the softstarter.Example: <strong>MSF</strong>-370 is designed for 370 A full load current(FLC) and 5 times this current for a starting time of 30 seconds.AC 53a 3.0-30:50-10 (normal)This level is for lighter applications and here the <strong>MSF</strong> <strong>2.0</strong>can manage a higher FLC.Example: <strong>MSF</strong>-370 can be used for an application with450 A FLC if the starting current is not more than 3 timesthis current for a starting time of 30 seconds.AC53b 3.0-30:330 (normal with bypass)This level is for lighter applications when a bypass contactoris used. The <strong>MSF</strong> <strong>2.0</strong> can in this case be used for applicationswith an even higher nominal current.ExampleAn <strong>MSF</strong>-370 can be used for an application with a full loadcurrent of 555 A if the starting current is no more than threetimes this value and a bypass contactor is used.NOTE!
