Newly designed or newly constructed <strong>and</strong> alteredboating facilities shall comply with 15.2.1003.1 General. Recreational boating facilities shall comply with1003.15.2.2 Accessible Route. Accessible routes, including gangwaysthat are part <strong>of</strong> accessible routes, shall comply with 4.3.1003.2 Accessible Routes. Accessible routes servingrecreational boating facilities, including gangways <strong>and</strong> floatingpiers, shall comply with Chapter 4 except as modified by theexceptions in 1003.2.1003.2.1 Boat Slips. Accessible routes serving boat slips shallbe permitted to use the exceptions in 1003.2.1.EXCEPTION 1. Where an existing gangway or series <strong>of</strong>gangways is replaced or altered, an increase in the length <strong>of</strong> thegangway is not required to comply with 15.2.2, unless requiredby 4.1.6(2).EXCEPTION 1. Where an existing gangway or series <strong>of</strong>gangways is replaced or altered, an increase in the length <strong>of</strong>the gangway shall not be required to comply with 1003.2unless required by 202.4.EXCEPTION 2. The maximum rise specified in 4.8.2 shall notapply to gangways.EXCEPTION 2. Gangways shall not be required to complywith the maximum rise specified in 405.6.EXCEPTION 3. Where the total length <strong>of</strong> the gangway orseries <strong>of</strong> gangways serving as part <strong>of</strong> a required accessibleroute is at least 80 feet (24 m), the maximum slope specified inEXCEPTION 3.
