The culmination of their efforts resulted inthe Shadow-class. The technology on board the Shadow isextremely classified, so much so that even members of theRomulan Senate are not "officially" aware of its existence.The Shadow comes equipped with phasers, but can also be refitted with fourexperimental technologies.Special Weapons:Holo-emitterThe Shadow is equipped with a unique deflector dish able to project holograms.When outfitted with a Holo-emitter, the projection manipulates enemy sensorsby reversing their warp signatures and appearance. This causes affected shipsto inadvertently target their allies.Psychonic BlastThe Shadow’s deflector dish can also be rigged to emit a subspace blast ofradiation known as the Psychonic Blast. This causes an enemy’s crew totemporarily go insane, killing members of their own crew.Energy-Shield ConverterA modification to the inversion beam, this converter redistributes the Shadow’senergy into shield energy, then transfers it to an allied ship.Phase CloakDevelopment of this technology began as early as 2367, but was not competeduntil recently. The Shadow is the first of its kind to carry a functionalinterphase generator. When activated, the generator phases the ship’smolecular structure, allowing it to move unseen through physical objects.Venator-classThe Venator is one of the newest ship designs to comefrom the ship design yards at Romulus. A battleshipintended to compliment the mighty Romulan Warbird,the Venator is slightly smaller, yet is equipped withlonger range phasers.Warbird-classThe Romulan Warbird, designated the D’deridex-class,is a massive spaceship and the flagship of the Romulanfleet. The Warbird is equipped with powerful plasmatorpedoes and phasers. The combination of offensivestrength, maneuverability, and stealth make the Warbirda deadly predator and an invaluable asset to theRomulan fleet.Special Weapon: Shield Inversion BeamThe Warbird can be modified to fire a shield inversion beam. This beam drainsan enemy’s shields directly from the ship and transfers them to the Warbird’s.Phoenix-classThe Phoenix was originally developed by the Star Empire asa last resort, should the Romulan Empire fall to invaders.Its potential effect is so devastating, it requires a specialshipyard for its construction. Because of the intense burdenPhoenix-class captains must bear, the Tal Shiar has beenknown to use unorthodox "conditioning" techniques in theirtraining. These techniques ensure the loyalty and commitment of Phoenixcaptains to the Star Empire.Special Weapon: Spatial RiftWhen the Phoenix activates its only weapon, it creates an expanding tear in thespace-time continuum that does massive damage to any ship or station withinits range. The ship and its crew are destroyed in the resulting explosion.THE ROMULAN STATIONSRomulan StarbaseThe Romulan Starbase is the center of the Romulan fleetin a sector. Once a starbase is operational, crew beginsto be transported into the crew pool at a steady rate.Building additional starbases will increase this rate. Thestation can build construction ships, cargo ships, andfreighters, the basic units for establishing an outpost inthe area. The Romulan Starbase is armed with an arrayof pulse phasers for defense.58 59
