The governing body of theRomulan Empire is the Romulan Senate, and their leader is known as thePraetor. The Romulans are a passionate and aggressive people known for theirstealth and cunning in combat. They have a large military presence in the AlphaQuadrant, and have been involved in wars with both the United Federation ofPlanets and the Klingon Empire in the past.THE ROMULAN FLEETNON-COMBAT SHIPSFreighterThe Romulan freighter is outfitted with a reinforcedhull, capable of carrying large amounts of unprocesseddilithium, or latinum. The drain of energy required tocarry their heavy payload limits the freighter’s speed.Freighters have no weapons, though their heavyshielding allows them to withstand considerabledamage in combat.Construction ShipThe Romulan construction ship is loaded with a team ofworkers in its cargo bay. When constructing a station,these one-person engineering shuttlecraft are deployedfrom the construction vessel. While the constructionship transports the raw materials, the workers assemblethe areas with welding lasers. Like freighters,construction vessels are not armed. They do have atractor beam that allows them to tow derelicts and shipswith disabled engines.Repair ShipThe Romulan repair ships are able to provide mobilerepair capabilities to both ships and facilities. Unarmed,they are heavily fortified so that they may carry outtheir critical duties, even in combat situations.Cargo ShipCOMBAT SHIPSRomulan merchant ships trade with many worlds and racesthroughout the galaxy, moving between the trading stationsnear worlds both inside and outside the Star Empire.They are equipped with excellent shields but no defensivearmaments, relying on their maneuverability to get themout of harm’s way.Colony ShipThe Romulan Empire continues to search for new planetsto colonize. The Romulan colony ship is able totransport enough colonists and supplies to start afledgling colony. Once the colony is in place, the colonyship is automatically decommissioned and broken intoits component parts to be used by the colonists.Note: All Romulan combat ships are equipped with a cloaking device,allowing them to move through space undetected.Talon-classThe Talon was designed to be the eyes and earsof the Romulan armada. Its superior speed andmaneuverability allows it to recon an area of spacebefore the fleet moves in. This ship is armed with asingle forward-firing plasma cannon.Special Weapon: Tachyon Detection GridTalon-class ships can have their sensor arrays modified to use a TachyonDetection Grid, allowing them to detect cloaked ships within their sensor range.54 55
