92Revisiting Police Lawsoffice unless expressly allowed to do so in writing by Head of district Police or by some other officer authorised togrant such permissionExplanation: A police officer who being absent on leave fails without reasonable cause to report for duty onthe expiration of such leave shall be deemed within the meaning of this Article to withdraw himself from the duties ofhis office.(2) No police officer shall resign his office unless he has given to his superior officer notice in writingfor a period of not less than two months of his intention to resign.117. Police officer not to engage in any other employment. – No police officer shall engage in any privateemployment while he is a member of the police establishment.CHAPTER XIIIPOWERS TO ISSUE ORDERS118. Power to issue orders. - The Head of District Police may, in an emergency, for the maintenance of public orderor preventing public nuisance, issue orders to give effect to the provisions of any Municipal law, rules or bye-lawsfor the time being in force.119. Power to give direction to the public. - Subject to rules, a police officer not below the rank of a Sub-Inspector may, give such directions as may be necessary to:(a) direct the conduct and behaviour or actions of persons constituting processions or assemblieson roads or streets;(b) prevent obstructions –(i) on the occasion of processions and assemblies;(ii) in the neighbourhood of places of worship during the time of worship; and(iii) when a street or public place or place of public resort may be thronged or liable to beobstructed.(c) keep order on streets, mosques, churches or other places of worship and places of publicresort when these may be thronged or liable to be obstructed.120. Regulation of public assemblies and processions and licensing of same. -(1) Head of District Police orAssistant or Deputy Superintendent of Police may as occasion require, direct the conduct of assemblies and processionson public roads, or in public streets or thoroughfares and prescribe the routes by which and the times at which, suchprocessions may pass.(2) He may also, on being satisfied that it is intended by any persons or class of persons to convene orcollect any assembly in any such road, street or thoroughfare, or to form a procession which would, in his judgement,if uncontrolled, be likely to cause a breach of the peace, require by general or special notice that the personsconvening or collecting such assembly or directing or promoting such processions shall apply for a licence.(3) On such application being made, he may issue a licence specifying the names of the licensees anddefining the conditions on which alone such assembly or such procession is to permitted to take place and otherwisegiving effect to this Article:Provided that no fee shall be charged on the application for, or grant of any such licence.121. Powers with regard to assemblies and processions violating the conditions of licence.- (1) Head ofDistrict Police or Assistant or Deputy Superintendent of Police or Inspector of police or an officer in-charge of apolice station may stop any procession which violates the conditions of a licence granted under the last foregoingArticle, and may order it or any assembly which violates any such conditions as aforesaid to disperse.(2) Any procession or assembly, which neglects or refuses to obey any order given under clause (1)shall be deemed to be an unlawful assembly.122. Power to prohibit certain acts for prevention of disorder. - (1) Head of District Police may, whenever andfor such time as he may consider necessary but not exceeding two days by notification publicly promulgated or
