Before substitution it read: 47.Authority of District Superintendent of Police over village police:- It shall be lawful for the Provincial Government incarrying this Act into effect in any part of the territories subject to such Provincial Government, to declare that anyauthority which now is or may be exercised by the Magistrate of the district over any village watchman or other villagepolice officer for the purposes of police, shall be exercised, subject to the general con-trol of the Magistrate of thedistrict, by the District Superintendent of Police.43 Sections 48 to 58 were added the Police (Amendment) Order, 2001 (7 of 2001) dated 13-08-2001.
