71Article 30need for repairs. Drivers will be compensated for time spent waiting for <strong>the</strong> repairs tobe completed; provided, however, that in no case shall any employee be paid morethan eight (8) hours out of every twenty-four (24) hour period as set forth in <strong>the</strong>breakdown provisions of <strong>the</strong> respective Area Supplemental <strong>Agreement</strong>s.All air conditioners shall be of sufficient capacity to adequately condition <strong>the</strong> air in <strong>the</strong>equipment cabs.Effective on <strong>the</strong> ratification date of <strong>the</strong> contract, all newly acquired yard vans shall beequipped with air conditioners.Section 6.No driver shall be required to drive a tractor designed with <strong>the</strong> cab under <strong>the</strong> trailer.Section 7.(a) All road and city equipment shall have a speedometer and tachometer operatingwith reasonable accuracy.(b) Heated Mirrors - New equipment placed in service shall be equipped with heatedmirrors. The heated mirrors shall be maintained in a proper operating condition. In <strong>the</strong>event a heated mirror requires repair and is written up at <strong>the</strong> time of arrival at <strong>the</strong> hometerminal, it will be repaired before <strong>the</strong> next dispatch. If <strong>the</strong> heated mirror fails to work attime of dispatch and repairs are not readily available, <strong>the</strong> repair may be postponed until <strong>the</strong>unit's next arrival at <strong>the</strong> home terminal.(c) All equipment shall be equipped with a horn which meets applicable federal,state and local specifications.(d) Fuel gauges shall be maintained in proper working order.(e) Tag or lift axle switches shall be installed on <strong>the</strong> driver's right hand side withinclear view of <strong>the</strong> driver.(f) In addition to <strong>the</strong> lighting required by applicable law, <strong>the</strong> Employer shall installflashers on <strong>the</strong> side or <strong>the</strong> top of <strong>the</strong> trailer on all new equipment ordered after December18, 1995.(g) In <strong>the</strong> event <strong>the</strong> Employer lowers <strong>the</strong> air bags on loaded equipment in order toachieve compliance with legal height restrictions, <strong>the</strong> Employer must release <strong>the</strong> employeefrom any responsibility for any damage caused to <strong>the</strong> air bags or equipment as a directresult of such action. Upon request of <strong>the</strong> employee, <strong>the</strong> Employer must acknowledge this
